Turkey's FM Says Turkey & Britain have Bright Future

Turkey's foreign minister said on Wednesday that Turkey and Britain had a bright future in their relations, regional cooperation and a global vision.

Ahmet Davutoglu attended a reception hosted on occasion of "Turkey and Growth" conference at the residence of the Turkish Embassy in London, and said Turkish-British trade volume was around 12 billion USD.

"Britain is the number-two biggest investor in Turkey," Davutoglu said.

Davutoglu said 2,200 British companies were operating in Turkey, and more than 30,000 Brits owned properties on Turkey's coasts.

Last year, 2.7 million British tourists visited Turkey, the minister said.

Davutoglu said Britain was Turkey's biggest television and refrigerator market. "It is a good surprise to learn that there are many Beko-brand televisions in Britain," he also said.

The minister said there were more than 3,000 Turkish students in Britain, and almost 400,000 Turkish citizens were living in that country.

"It is important for Turkish and British companies to develop joint projects in our vicinity, for instance, there is great potential in Libya, North Africa and Central Asia," Davutoglu also said.
