ASELSAN, a leading Turkish defense systems producer, said on Nov. 8 that its third quarter net profit increased by 126 percent over the same period last year, state-run Anadolu Agency has reported.

The company earned a profit of 153.2 million Turkish Liras ($48.3 million) in the third quarter of 2016, according to a statement to Borsa Istanbul, Turkey’s stock exchange.

The company’s revenue also increased to 734.9 million liras ($232 million) from 536.5 million liras in 2015.

ASELSAN is ranked 58th on a list of the world’s top 100 defense giants in 2016, compiled by the prestigious U.S. weekly, Defense News.

ASELSAN first entered the list in 2006, when it ranked 93rd. It has risen in the list ever since and has brought in $1 billion in revenue over the past year.

Turkey’s defense industry has gained momentum in recent years with the expansion of local producers and domestic firms introducing new products to the market, contributing to Ankara’s goal of relying more on domestic sources than imported products in military equipment.

Erdogan has played a pivotal role in strengthening the defence sector of Turkey by initiating a lot of military projects indigenously and securing defence deals with other nations. Under his able leadership, I see Turkey furthering in defence sector. It is really an achievement to enter top 100 of the worlds leading defence industries and looking at their rise and available funds / projects and technical expertise, it won't be far when we see ASELSAN entering top 10.

...Humanity started with Erdoğan, Islam started with Erdoğan, Science, Education, History etc all started with Erdoğan, even Pakistan started to exist with Erdoğan and his big wallet.

In this case, he's right. Perhaps Erdogan's greatest achievement is the development of a decent defense industry. I know that you are aware of this fact. Just because you don't like him doesn't mean you should deny the reality. Credit where credit is due. This is how a democrat behaves.

You miss the point in my previous post, just because you love Erdoğan.

Turkish development movement in all areas social, economic, defence etc. are not dependent on any leader(except for the founding one with creation of the country) but public since pre-and after the foundation of the country; If you read how our leaders have ''served'' the country, you will be one of those who curse on them due to their servants for the uncles in the west.

1. I'm not a Erdogan fanboy.

2. I can assure you that you're talking absolute nonsense. Both, the Turkish state & government systems are highly centralized, thus every major development process in Turkey depends on the government and its political ability.

I love this quote of Davotoglu : A country unable to create his own weapons has his fate made by countrys which creates thease weapons.

This is not exact world, which I forget, but I loved this first time I hears it.

Can be translated to Industry too, a country that doesnt produce but only consumes is doomed to fail.

One member replaces his/her avater picture Said Nursi with Turkish special forces commander, and another claims no to be fanboy of Erdoğan.

My point needs no more explanation.

And one member has secularism in his surname.....and know to be one of the most anti AKP member in this forum.
You're hardly the most objective....:-)

It's fine you guys have your different views keep it that way and don't insult each other.

I would like to remind you that ever since our founding and after the passing of Mustafa Kemal Atatürk, Turkey has gone through some tough times. and we gained some allies thanks to our participation in different operation among these I count the war in Korea as one of them. We struggled quite a lot and gambled when we went in and protected the minority in Cyprus.

It has not been easy, and our leaders in those times had very little military technology and power to protect our nation with, so they danced. Just so you guys can sit on your arses, slander and curse at them.

They did many things you may not like today, but they were elected and did their best, and they survived, and helped our nation live on. They did not sit quietly and obey orders, they built slowly, one step at a time. One factory at a time. Maybe @cabatli_53 can tell us the year Turkey was able to produce our first machine guns/automatic rifle. But the succes of AKP is heavily reliant on the hard workf in the past.

I don't think anyone in these forums could walk a mile in those politicians shoes, or endure what they had to endure.

Give credit to whom credit due. In other words "yigidi öldür ama hakkini yeme"
The current success of our defence industry is not solely due to Erdogan's emphasis, at the same time it would be hypocritical and shameful of us if we ignored his government's investments in this area. As Saithan rightly underlines, every successive government following our founding leader has sweated, perhaps they were not as succesfull but i want to believe they had their heart in the right place. Let's look at the future, we must keep building this nation
