ASELSAN, the largest Turkish company producing defense electronics for the Turkish Armed Forces, has developed a new generation armored combat system to meet today's combat zone needs at the most advanced level. The system called "Korhan" will be presented to local and foreign participants at the 13th International Defense Industry Fair (IDEF 2017).
Korhan was developed by ASELSAN with national resources and the most advanced technological possibilities in order to improve the facilities and capabilities of the Turkish Armed Forces.
Equipped with advanced target detection and tracking systems as well as high firepower, Korhan can provide the highest level of user and system survival with its state-of-the-art self-protection and environmental awareness systems. Thanks to its open and extensible architecture, the system will be upgraded and equipped with new additions and the necessary facilities in accordance with upcoming requirements.
A 35-millimeter cannonball with high firing speed is used as the main weapon in Korhan's system. The said cannon is being manufactured by the Machinery and Chemical Industry Institute with national resources. The system also has the capability to use the 35-millimeter particle ammunition developed and produced by ASELSAN in Turkey without any external dependency.
Self-defense against airborne threats Korhan shows high efficiency against targets behind the suture through smart ammunition use. The system can also defend itself against helicopters, planes and unmanned aerial vehicles that threaten itself and its team.
Armor-piercing, antipersonnel and air target-oriented or destructive ammunitions can be loaded to the system, enabling choice from a selection of ammunition according to the type of threat thanks to the automatic ammunition supply mechanism developed by ASELSAN, as per operational requirements, thereby enabling the cost-effective use of ammunition during combat.
The system is equipped with a 7.62-millimeter machine gun mounted in the same firing line mechanic as the main weapon for self-defense against close-range threats from land.
Equipped with next generation communication systems Unmanned to ensure maximum protection of user and personnel, the Korhan weapon tower allows maximum space for personnel, weapons and ammunition in the vehicle with minimum interference.
Korhan is equipped with next generation communication systems developed by ASELSAN in order to meet the intensive communication needs of today's combat zone. The system also has all the capabilities to perform tasks in the command and control network to coordinate with the elements that will perform joint tasks.
Also equipped with laser detection and warning systems, Korhan is designed for high survivability thanks to the active self-protection system "AKKOR", composite or ceramic modular armor protection, and smoke grenade launchers.
