Problem with most of Turkish equipment is that their core part such as engine are always imported. Firtina has the similar issue otherwise pakistan would have considered it. Although there is lot of focus to remedy that factor but still it will take time for tech to mature.

Engine and transmission issue already remain our biggest defficiency in defense industry but Multiple engine and transmission programs have been commenced under the leadership of undersecretariat of Turkish defense industry. Most likely, This problem will be totally solved in following 3-5 years.

Tümosan has developed respectively 115, 350 and now 530hp turbo-diesel engines. 750hp and 1000hp engines are under development phase.

FNSS will supply 6x6 and 8x8 vehicles with Tümosan engines to Turkish land forces.

SSB charged BMC power to develop bigger engines. In this aspect, BATU V8 18lt engine will be integrated on Firtina howitzers. Engine blocks have been casted in recent week.

Once Turkey has overcome critical issue of engine whether Diesel Electric, Turboshaft or Jet engine its defense exports will multiply many folds. This is a feet only few have achieved so turkey should be proud of itself. I reckon turkey should collaborate with Ukraine for tank and SSP engines considering they are very cash strapped and not in any position to say no.
