Otokar

Cobra II is a modular platform with technical and tactical characteristics.

ANKARA, Turkey — Turkish armored vehicle manufacturer Otokar won a contract from the Turkish government to supply an unspecified number of vehicles to the Turkish military, the company announced Dec. 22.

Otokar said the €47.5 million contract (approximately US $52 million) involves the sale of its Cobra II tactical wheeled armored vehicles, the company announced in a press release.

Otokar said the deliveries would be completed in the first half of 2017.

The firm said the vehicles would be in service "to meet various requirements of the security forces."

Cobra II was unveiled for the first time in May 2013. Otokar said the vehicle offers outstanding mobility and firepower in a wide range of missions. The Cobra vehicle platform has been in service in 15 countries around the world.

The tactical vehicle has the capacity to transport up to nine troops and mission equipment. It can operate either in conjunction with allied air defense systems, communication systems and troops, or it can operate independently.
