SUDAN – A new hospital in South Darfur state’s capital Nyala was opened by the Turkish Coordination and Cooperation Agency (TIKA) on Friday.

Turkey’s Health Minister Mehmet Muezzinoglu, Deputy Prime Minister Emrullah Isler and First Vice President of Sudan Bakri Hassan inaugurated the training and research hospital.
sler told journalists after the opening ceremony that TIKA continues to carry out projects in the regions of most need. "This hospital will make a major contribution to the brotherhood between Turkey and Sudan," he said.

Muezzinoglu stated that the hospital was built at Turkish Prime Minister Recep Tayyip Erdogan`s request at a cost of $35 million.

The hospital has a 196 bed capacity with a total area of 50 thousand square meters with three operating theatres, two delivery rooms, a fully equipped radiology unit and a laboratory.
