Istanbul: Turkish Prime Minister, Recep Tayyip Erdogan has said that the relationship between Pakistan and Turkey has entered into a new phase during the tenure of the present government led by Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif.
In a meeting with the Punjab Chief Minister Shahbaz Sharif in Istanbul on Friday, he said that Turkey wants Pak-Turk friendship to be strong for a better economic cooperation between the two countries.
Erdogan warmly welcomed Punjab CM and said that he was very happy to meet him again and fully appreciated his role in the promotion of Pak-Turk fraternal relations. He added that, Turkey wants to see Pakistan as a strong, prosperous and a peaceful country. Shahbaz Sharif said that he had brought a special message of goodwill for the Turk leadership from the PM Nawaz Sharif. He said that the progress and prosperity of Turkey is the result of Turk leadership’s sagacity, tireless efforts, spirit of sacrifice and love for the people. Shahbaz Sharif added that Turkey had become a role model for the countries from Casablanca to Kuala Lumpur under the guidance of PM Erdogan, and he salutes the leadership of Turk prime minister. Chief Minister Punjab said that Turkey and Pakistan stand by each other in every situation and the people of both the countries will always be together. He said that when Pakistan faced the worst floods of its history, four years ago, the Turk prime minister had also visited the affected areas. Chief Minister Shahbaz Sharif was accorded extraordinary protocol by the Turkish leadership and government during his one day visit to Turkey.
Turk Prime Minister hosted a dinner in honour Shahbaz Sharif at Prime Minister’s House. According to the diplomatic circles, such functions are usually held by the Turk prime minister in honour of heads of states. Special assistant to Prime Minister on Foreign Affairs, Tariq Fatimi, Lahore Transport Company Chairman, Ahmed Hasaan and ambassador of Pakistan in Turkey were also present on the occasion Earlier, Chief Minister Shahbaz Sharif met the representatives of coal mining companies and various investment institutions. These companies would make investment in coal mining as well as energy and infrastructure sectors.in Pakistan. The chief minister further said that after the metro bus project, cooperation of Turkey in energy sector is highly appreciated by Pakistan.

Anyways, this news is no surprise. Both nations would benefit from such ties.
