No need. US can build something even in North Korea. But its the transfer of Tech that wont be forthcoming. And honestly until unless US gives all its source codes, gives us permission to tinker with the aircraft this shouldnt be happening.

I am against the single Engine tender as a whole. Go with Mk1A and Mk2 Tejas. Or at worst Gripen and make sure to have common modules in both Gripen and Tejas to reduce maintainance.

I wouldn't be surprised if they'd issue tenders & RFIs for drones that photographers use and name them as surveillance drones. They'll spend millions where they could procure the same for couple of thousand dollars if they buy it online

What is wrong with having so many different platforms? Yes, people here tend to see that when you have minimum platforms, logistics will not be a problem. This could be true for smaller countries who has lesser number of fighters, but not for India...ex: India has near 280 MKI's....the larger number of each fighter type will its self take care of efficient logistics.
