QUETTA: Paramilitary forces Sunday killed more than 10 alleged separatist rebels in violence-stricken Balochistan as part of a fresh operation to quell a long-running insurgency, officials said.

The operation in Dera Bugti district's Gandyari town, 250 kilometres (150 miles) southeast of the capital Quetta, came just three days after troops killed 30 suspected militants in the same area.

Officials said the town, close to the borders of Balochistan, Sindh and Punjab provinces, was the hub of the separatist movement carrying out attacks on trains, bridges and security forces.

“We can confirm that 10 militants of the outlawed Balochistan Republican Army (BRA) have been killed in an operation in Gandyari today,” Manzoor Ahmed, a spokesman for the paramilitary Frontier Corps in Balochistan, told AFP.

“The forces started operation against the BRA militants early in the morning after receiving information that they are hiding there,” Ahmed said.

The death toll could not be independently verified.

Resource-rich Balochistan is home to a long-running separatist conflict that was revived in 2004, with nationalists seeking to stop what they see as the exploitation of the region's natural resources and alleged rights abuses.

'More than 10'? How many bodies did they recover? Obviously none, or they would know exactly how many they killed after taking a physical body count. Guesswork uh?

Did they retrieve any weapons or war like material? If no, then how did they come to the conclusion that they were militants?

The report anyway says, 'alleged separatist rebels', meaning they could be innocent civilians too! What kinda report is this? Plain waffle! :dirol:

U picked the line which suited you:coffee:, besides the forces might still be searching the area...

Total death toll is 40+ BRA rats killed along with a senior commander who was an expert in making IEDs to blow up trains and pipelines.

1 FC soldier was martyered so far. The search operation has been going on for a week. A joint Special Ops team from Sindh Ranger's ATTF and Balochistan FC's SOW is leading the effort.

PAF & Pak Armed drones are missing here, at least gunships should be used to help the ground troops.

Military operation is needed to clean up Balochistan province, which is filled with rented terrorists.

These operations should not stop & they need to be carried on non stop, like that rented terrorists will not have time to think & react & their scripted terrorists thoughts will be isolated.

Firstly, I ain't got a bloody nose. :P

Secondly on the one hand you say that it is your 'internal affair' and on the other you waste no time in dragging the RAW into this mess! In other words it's you guys who are externalizing the issue and dragging India into it. And you say its your internal matter? Decide before spewing baloney out here! :azn:

Isn't there any participation from Punjab Rangers. Actually area which borders Punjab, Sindh and Balochistan is where these rats loot people, collect Bhatta, and damage state resources mainly gas pipe lines. Being common area among three provinces they slip here and there. It's a good effort, I believe if punjab rangers also participate with sindh rangers and FC Balochistan they results could have been much better.
