No matter what the Indians say, the land access to the relatively lower populated but often resource rich region north of Pakistan can become a big prize/gain. Free flow of goods and people via highways year around still wins over sea or air routes.

• The days of waging wars to acquire resources are over.
• If you have money you purchase them on the world market.
• technological changes are rendering even the most important materials like hydrocarbon obsolete.
• Nothing is free with land access in foreign countries. The world economy took off after Europeans ended Turkish control of land routes. I do not want my trucks held up because Imran Khan got imprisoned or Taliban warlord wants some extra dough.
• If it is worthwhile trading with Central Asia and Afghanistan, Pakistan has to show the way. If you do not have the money cut your spending in other areas, invest in this trade route and show that you are serious.
