On lighter note why west is allowing it?

I believe the prohibition on the use of cannabis in the west is hypocritical. People are much more dangerous when drunk on alchohol, than they are high on weed. I think more liberal communities are becoming aware of this and taking advantage of new markets. In a legalised environment, cannabis is sold by big business, not street dealers.

Used in moderation it does no more harm than a glass of wine with your meal, or a nightcap in the evening. Of course as a Muslim i consider both haram, but western society doesn't operate by our values.

Well the number of road accidents is very high in Pakistan so it can be one of the reasons I think.

I agree with what you're saying. fact is, most societies have drugs floating around and being used, so question is- which drugs are being used and how much? at hte end of the day, Marijuana is the best(least harmful) out of the worst(drugs).

Does your sister not know that cannabis is indigenous to Central and South Asia?

Where it has been used for different purposes for thousands of years.

In South Asia the cannabis leaves are known as 'bhang' or 'ganja'.

It were the Indian immigrants (contract labourers, just like my ancestors) who brought cannabis to Jamaica, where it is still known as 'ganja'.

You can become addicted but it actually make you more alert and keep you awake by providing you instant caffine boast.
Similarly if I am not wrong this cannibas or niswar was consumed as a paste . It was smoked in the americas and drunk as wine called bhang in punjab. But in kpk and karachi they made a paste type called niswar . And one can argue what intoxicated effects its has while making niswar , smoking it , or making bhang .
It can be simple relaxing drug which just calms your brain down. For example the life is so hectic and full of tensions that most people use anti depressents and relaxing drugs . This must be an organic alternative to them lol

A lot of students in US take this regularly. I could tell in which room is being consumed from its strong smell in the corridor of my residence hall. The person who told was an addict and I was afraid because we were project-mates
