Project 15A and P15B Bravo destroyers of Indian Navy carries 16 BrahMos missiles. Thats 48 tons of Anti-ship Firepower. In comparison ships of this size(7500 tons) carry 8 x Harpoons or 8 x Exocet. Thats just 6.2 tons of Anti-ship Firepower. BrahMos is bigger, heavier and WAAAY more capable than Exocet/Harpoon or any similar subsonic missile.
It carries 533mm HEAVY Torpedo like the Varunastra Torpedo. It has a much more powerful warhead and a higher range of 40 kms. In comparision, other Destroyers carry 324mm light torpedo tubes. Less firepower and ranges of only around 10 kms. Vishakapatnam Class has accomodation for 2 full armed Helicopters . Many destroyers can accommodate only 1 helicopter. Barak 8 is an excellent missile, but i would have been happy if it had 16-24 additional Barak 8.
The design of our warships ensures a fantastic broadside coverage.
LRSAM has a higher hit probability than enemy missiles. In terms of protection, our destroyers and frigates are top class. Don't forget the EW capability of the MFstar and the DRDO Shakti EW suite. Now coming to offensive weapons: 16 brahmos is excellent and can effectively sink as much as 12 enemy ships including enemy aircraft carrier. I would have preferred atleast 4 of the newly developed SMART missile (similar to ASROC) to scare and target enemy submarine, but i believe this missile is around 2m longer than Brahmos!!

Upcoming stealth guided frigates of Indian Navy(INS Nilgiri):

It's actually pretty good, it will be a force multiplier for least numerous destroyer fleet. It features flush deck, 8 brahmos VLUs, 32 barak ers(and 24- 32 VL astra)
It has lots of space for upgrade , especially in deck it has more space to add more VLUs , will feature MF-STAR S-band and ltr 25 l band radar and most importantly it will be build using a method called modular integrated construction (MIC) where Ships are built in the shortest time when a series of specific pre-planned modules are assembled like a Lego set. Which is unlike the russian way which is least expensive,needs less skilled labour but take longer to build, while MIC is more expensive , need skilled labour and construction will be faster , and this how western countries and China builds its warships and that's how china pumped out so much warships in this short time.

It is equipped with naval guns from Italy, phased array radar from Israel, main engine from Ukraine, auxiliary engine from Norway, generators from Denmark, anti-ship missiles from Russia, air defense missiles from Israel, early warning radar from the Netherlands, bow sonar from the USA, towed sonar from Germany and combat management system from Canada, Navigation management system in Sweden and project supervision in France, etc.
On the Calcutta class warship, we saw the hope of human cooperation in the future.
The Calcutta class is an excellent warship. In addition to the long construction time (14 years), the speed of air defense missiles is slower than that of aircraft (the max-speed is Mach 2), lack sufficient ability to defend against electronic warfare aircraft, has two power systems (European standard and Russian standard), uses smaller power gas turbines (16550kw), the phased array radar looks like Sikh's headscarf, which affects the overall center of gravity of warships. Calcutta has no shortcomings.

Liaoning and shandong are both handicapped by having no airborne radar, j15 jet with only 4000lbs payload and still no nuclear power. Its actually a liability to combat operations at sea.

Conventional power, the carrier cannot maintain 30knot speed and range.

J15 is total garbage. Have to choose between CAP, anti ship and strike role. And no AESA radar

Escort warships have to be burdened to protect j15s in the air which is the opposite of what should be. Less response time to to defend itself and the carrier. Who needs decoys when their j15s can take that role.

No airborne radar, means there is no radar coverage beyond horizon especially against sea skimming missiles or low alt attack aircraft. Radar waves don't bend to earth curvature. Now that is very dangerous, no strike group can react fast enough against 100 tomahawkVs, NSM or LRASM coming up on the horizon at only 20kms away

It's a cheap carrier, only a fraction of the price of an American one. And doing 30 kn is nice, but if escort ships can't keep up due to wave height, it makes little sense.

In many respects the Indian carrier is a generation newer in design. Design of Vikrant started in 1999 while the Chinese ships are rooted in 1970s Soviet technology. The Chinese ships use traditional steam turbines while Vikrant uses a more modern gas turbine arrangement.
Weight problems are compounded when operating off Liaoning, as its STOBAR launch and recovery method further limits payload capacity.
Among the Asian countries, the Indian Navy is the most experienced in terms of naval aviation, coming in third after the US and France globally.

Triveni Engineering inks pact with GEAE Tech to manufacture gas turbine base

The LM2500 is the chosen propulsion gas turbine by the Indian Navy for many of its surface combatant vessels. It has power ranging from 25 MW to 35 MW and has been in service with over 40 navies globally, the company said in a statement.

Brahmos perform low skimming with greater speed >>>mach 3, can carry more warheads than Chinese anti-ship missiles. Brahmos travel much faster in its terminal stage. And with accuracy of "1m CEP".
Sea skimming is upto terminal phase after that Brahmos does split-S manuever attack which makes it even more lethal....
