An Indian Border Security Force soldier, right, and a Pakistani Rangers soldier face one another at a daily closing ceremony at the Wagah border post near Lahore, Pakistan, in 2009. India has called off a planned meeting between its foreign minister and her Pakistani counterpart on the sidelines of the U.N. General Assembly session in New York this month, aggravating tensions between the longtime rivals. Foreign Ministry spokesman Raveesh Kumar said Friday that India's decision to pull out of the meeting, which had been announced a day earlier, follows the killing of an Indian border guard in Kashmir and Pakistan's glorification of insurgents fighting Indian rule in the Himalayan territory. Absolutely fascinating to watch! It reminds me the Maui's war dance..

If you are referring to the ceremony, it’s a demonstration of immaturity on both sides

A solemn military event that happens across the sub continent twice daily has been converted into a circus at the crossing points where soldiers perform to the applause of civilians

. .
A pathetic practice which should be banned by Imran Khan.or.COAS, We are not uncivilized barbarians.

. . .
Chu ti ya paa...since ages. Ban this circus.
it gives feelings to their respected nations that their real men are defending them and some idiots so called defense experts says it is darma or notabki.. idiots

. .
@Ceylal in your language you call it tamasha. In Hindi it is called nautanki.
i don't think we have a word for it, but I found the practice absolutely fantastic...better than exchanging bullets...Every culture have something similar..

Physically, it is harmful to the two participants. They have to bang their feet on the ground and it seems that this creates bone problems in the legs and feet.

Also, it doesn't look good.

This "ceremony" should be removed.

Yes they are also human being. They bang their feet so hard on ground as If earthquake will come. But I am sure they feel pain in every part of body. Its hard surface road.
