I do not know any Bengali language (past very few basic words) or have any direct connection past an appreciation for some of their culture (on Indian side). I have picked up fair amount of knowledge about Bangladesh from my real life friends from there (but living in Canada)....thus I know how to get under the skin of lot of BAL-STRONK hyperventilating types here.[/QUOTE]

All know about Bengali culture is their love for fish had some food I prefer the Bihari Kebab dish but Bengali cuisine is not my thing too small portions

I was just pulling your leg because you're always in Bengladeshi forum :)

Yes I knew hehe :enjoy:...but might as well explain for anyone reading here. Plus an excuse to tag Joe and see what he says :P ...I do like to annoy him now and then.

Where I live all the Indians are Punjabis very few Tamils if any others, for some reason Tamils are not in NYC but Punjabis are everywhere here

Yah most Tamils/southies I know tend to live more in Joisey...little further from NYC metro area....but even then they are not huge in number there or anything. Punjabi definitely are mostly represented....and tend to be spearhead of Indian culture in west etc.

I have met not only Punjabi Sikhs but also Punjabi Hindus tho I recall when I was growing up we had some Gujaratis

Yah Punjab in India is about 50/50 split between Sikh and Hindu....Sikhs just obviously stand out a lot more generally. Gujaratis also are big in number (% wise to their state population in India) I have found all over US and UK....probably because India socialism (for large part of its history) drove away lot of those "business minded" Gujjus :P

Punjabis from Pakistan are little different like my dad is mixed Pathan/Punjabi and my dad only mostly uses the Urdu Language mostly tho with Punjabis he speak Punjabi

Urdu I can understand quite well (I know Hindi pretty well). Punjabi sounds much more interesting language to me haha....it has a witty jocular charm to it.

Bengali language sounds like they are speaking fast and their script compared to Hindi is way off

Yah Bengali (and also Odia, Assamese and eastern stuff) tend to have lot of use of "o" sound in place of the a/aa sounds northie languages prefer....it stems somewhat I think from their Pali roots (and Pali is very different compared to other prakrits).

I have been told by many that us Tamils speak the fastest though of anyone :P....it is because we have a very different spoken language (use lot of short cuts and word combining) to our written (which is much more formal and slow).

Gujaratis are legit the J..ws of South Asia real money hungry folks and they tend to look down on everyone and act snobby which is another reason not fond of them as for Jersey yeah I have seen more ethnic groups from India which is great as a Pakistani I no longer have to be lumped in with those folks because when Punjabis from the both sides reside in one place it dont matter where they are from, yeah the pronoucation of Bengali annoys me I kinda wish they ditched that script badly but 1971 happen Tamils I have met mostly spoke English

To us Pakistanis, Bangladeshi and Indian cuisine is generally indistinguishable.

Too spicy, less meat flavor, soupy, and heavy on Hing/Asafetida and Elaichi/ Cardamom.

Tamils tend to either be socially awkward nerds or gangsta thugs here in the states.

Although compared to Gujuratis, I have liked most of the Tamils I met.

Many of them get self-conscious around Pakistanis and don’t know how to act. No doubt they have been fed a lot of propaganda against us.

Some are insecure about their skin color due to North Indians mocking them, but generally Pakistanis don’t care about skin color when it comes to judging people.

Depends on Region also

Not necessarily bro. They have different palates.

Gang members nah Socially awkward yeah in a way, propaganda in India towards Pakistan has gotten fierce in recent years thanks to the stupidty of the Pakistani diaspora abroad, and the Govt stupidty thanks to cough cough Bhutto and Zia India has now the guns and bullets to shred Pakistan's image as for cuisine I mean Pakistani food is meat based while Indian is all veggies I noticed

We don't speak fast; we think fast. It gives others a headache keeping up, but there's not much we can do about it. You lot need to start eating fish (I don't; according to @Itachi, I still give him a headache).

You got it wrong a second time, but that's not strange between Punjabis and Bengalis; it's been known to happen in other countries other than ours. Bengali and Hindi scripts are both derived from the same source, but we got it right, the up-country chaps got it wrong. :D

Change your friends. You've got the 0.01% (1 out of 10,000) of Bengalis who aren't generous with their food.

Hey, watch it there, buster.

lol I think, talk & type fast. At my PT job, a lot of customers tell me to slow down.

When & Where did I say you give me a headache? :azn:

It's more of a "mental stimulation". I actually had tuna salad (I made it) this morning you old man. :D

On topic: I went to the barber yesterday, fudging told him & pointed to him to not cut my beard. Guess what he did? He fudging cut the upper part of it

And then I had to clear all of my beard (4 weeks old). Now I look 5 years younger. :disagree:
