Can't get rid of Riba so easily now - it will take years, decade or more. These so called Islam ke thekedar got what they wanted in 71 Constitution and 'left' the Riba bit.

IMO if we want rid of interest, there's an intellectual burden that needs to be carried first. A proper academic and comprehensive appraisal of the current system, and a viable replacement. Then one can promote that system and campaign for it politically, then comes implementation.

In my view, it would require a revolutionary level of change. And it wouldn't be the type of revolution that marauding maulvis in the streets bring, but a system that is well thought-out and brought in by the moderate majority of ordinary and educated people, through political activism, legislature and laws.

It takes time to correct the mistakes and it is painfully slow when the whole system is riba based. There is nothing more I would like to see than ridding of riba based system. It would be gradual weening off.
