Australian TIC Group has set up a hanger factory with an initial investment of US$ 10m in the Meghna Industrial Economic Zone at Meghnaghat in Narayanganj.
The hanger factory has started its operation on 18 February. The factory will produce 150 million hangers yearly. The trial production began in November 2018.
The factory was inaugurated by Salman F Rahman, private sector development affairs adviser to the Prime Minister, Sheikh Hasina.
“Thanks to TIC Group, as they have made this factory just in 12 months. It means ease of doing business is available in Bangladesh,” Salman F Rahman said.
Julia Niblett, Australian High Commissioner to Bangladesh said, “This factory of TIC will be run in Australian standard. And Bangladeshi’s will get a golden chance to introduce with the latest technologies. Also, I’m hoping that trade and investment between Bangladesh and Australia will increase more.”
Julia Niblett also added, “And I’m also impressed that there will be a lot of employment opportunities for Bangladesh.”
“After the successful test-run, we are launching the commercial production,” Mohammad Rafiquzzman, local contact person of TIC Group said.
Paban Chowdhury, executive chairman of the Bangladesh Economic Zones Authority, said this type of foreign investment would help reduce the trade gap and create much-needed jobs.
TIC’s plant is fully export-oriented and will ship most of its products to Australia and European markets. It may also sell the products to Bangladesh’s garment manufacturers if they are nominated by their international clients.
TIC Group is a pioneer in garment hanger re-use. It produces 600 million hangers yearly. TIC is committed to reducing hangers going to waste; giving customers back time and saving money through an advanced worldwide logistics network.
