Three killed by bomb at Danish mission in Pakistan

Does Danish law means free to spread hatred speeches and images? i am pretty sure if some pakistani draw a picture of "Gandhi" drinking "gaumutra" people would be really offended and probably kill few Muslims in india..

why are you bringing Gandhi into these.

He was giving you an example...

Btw is it just me, or is the Pakistani media showing dead bodies again?

Pakistani Taliban militants likely carried out a suicide attack on the Danish embassy in Islamabad in revenge for controversial cartoons of the Prophet Mohammed, officials said Tuesday.

But the car bombing on Monday, which killed at least six people, was believed to be a one-off and would not scupper peace talks between the Islamist rebels and Pakistan's new government, a senior government official said.

Security officials said a stolen car with fake diplomatic plates was used in the bombing and that the explosives were of a type used in previous attacks attributed to Taliban militants in a tribal region bordering Afghanistan.

"It appears to be a one-off attack which has little relevance to the ongoing negotiations between Taliban and the authorities," the government official told AFP.

"This attack was not born out of the events in the country or the region, rather it was part of global outrage in the Islamic world against publishing blasphemous cartoons," the official said.

One Danish citizen of Pakistani origin and two Pakistani employees were among the dead in the blast that badly damaged the embassy and the offices of UN-backed aid agency, officials in Copenhagen said.

Danish newspapers first published the cartoons in 2005, sparking violent protests in Pakistan and some other Muslim countries. Several dailies reprinted the sketches in February this year.

The Danish embassy, located outside Islamabad's secure diplomatic enclave, was recently downgraded and embassy staff were relocated.

A joint team of investigators has been set up, including of police, the special investigation unit of the Federal Intelligence Agency and Pakistani intelligence services, to probe the blast, the government official said.

A senior security official said the bomb contained at least 25 kilograms of the same type of explosive used in a massive suicide bombing at FIA's offices in the eastern city of Lahore in March.

That attack was blamed on Pakistani Taliban militants, who agreed to talks with the government after parties allied to US-backed anti-terror ally President Pervez Musharraf were trounced in elections in February.

The top Taliban commander, Baitullah Mehsud, has denied accusations by the former government that he orchestrated the assassination of former premier Benazir Bhutto in December and had links to Al-Qaeda.

Osama bin Laden's extremist network has made recent calls for attacks on Danish targets because of the cartoons.

The preparations for the Danish blast were "meticulous, similar to previous attacks by Taliban linked to Al-Qaeda" and involved a car stolen from the northwestern city of Peshawar, the security official said.

However the attack itself was "poorly executed" and the bomb went off several metres (yards) from the gate of the embassy, they said.

Security officials warned however that the attack showed the Taliban network remained intact and exposed the problems that lie ahead "in case of reopening of hostilities between the government and the militants."

Danish Prime Minister Anders Fogh Rasmussen slammed the bombing as a "horrible, cowardly crime," telling reporters that his government would not give in to terrorists and would maintain its foreign and security policies.

US President George W. Bush condemned the bombing and offered his condolences to the victims, White House spokeswoman Dana Perino said. Pakistan has been a key ally in Washington's "war on terror" since 2001.

UN chief Ban Ki-moon denounced the attack and "reiterates his total rejection of such acts of terrorism," his press office said in a statement.

The UN Security Council unanimously condemned the bombing in a non-binding statement.

Thats not the point i was referring too, read the last line of my post the part that you highlighted but anyways lets leave it here.

Is this the point you are referring to?

Its like they have nothing else to do rather then sitting over the internet and finding anything, any news, any article that could prove their point of pakistan as a terroist nation.

This is a Pakistani forum, managed by Pakistanis. The event occured in Pakistan & probably carried out by a Pakistani (Pakistani Taliban or whatever) & yet you have got regret with Indian posting the news on a Pakistani board. If it wasn't me then somebody else would've posted the news. CNN was broadcasting the news the whole day as a headline bulletin. So, all of them are out there to malign Pakistan? If anything to make you feel better, ToI didnot even carry this as a Headline news. So stop being so insecure.

BTW, before you color people with the same brush that you've been painted with just look at my previous posts. I have posted several positive news regarding Pakistan wherever I could find them. Its a news event not any article.

I don't know how realistic it is to determine the capability for a person to engage in terrorism based on their nationality.

It depends on how you define the term terrorism. But anyways like i said before only an extreme person who doesnt bother about anything, his countries reptutation, image would commit such an act, but we cannot neglect a possible out side hand in it to give pakistan a bad name.

It could probaly be carried by a pakistani tailban or for that matter carried out by india for instance, but lets not jump to conclusions here. Point was that only indians were updating the terrorism page, since you guys could not find a news other then just terrorism related to pakistan, i pointed this out. Yes if you havent done some one else would have had and its not about posting a news, my point was it seems you guys cant find any news other then just terrorism to be posted as far as pakistan is concerned.
I dont know why am i even arguing over this.:disagree:

So stop being so insecure.

Hardly.

Listen dude, if you want to hear only 'positive' news then go live in China.

I usually go to google news, and type "india", "pakistan" and "china". If I find any significant news, (positive or negative), I either start a thread or update the pre-existing one.
If a bomb-blast occurs in India, I'm the first one to start a thread here.

I have neither the time nor the inclination to go hunting for negative news about Pakistan.

IMO Irfan Hussein has very succinctly put into words what ails Pakistan society. There are many forces at work. First and foremost are of course the Islamic militant forces who would like to force a Pashtoon tribal version of Islam down our throats ( much worse than that of Saudi Arabia, where women are allowed to go to schools, barbers are allowed to trim the beards and even video shops are allowed); second are the bigots who exploit these forces to achieve their ends such as Lal Masjid criminals, the Jabra Chowk Zia ul Haq and the parties who were always opposed to the creation of Pakistan such as Jamaat Islami. Add to this injustices perpetrated by US thru unqualified support for Israel fanning the hatred of the West and secret funding of anti state elements such as BLA by our neighbours, and you have got a recipe for disaster.

What is dumbfounding is that there are still many advocates of the Khilaafat who visualize a utopian dream of Ummah and think that once this happens all evils will disappear from the world. The ground reality is totally different.

Fact is that Pakistan is slowly drifting towards Talibanization and her becoming another Somalia or Afghanistan in future cannot be ruled out altogether. Only solution is to completely eliminate all anti state forces, whether religious such as Taliban or secular such as BLA. (After all even US also had to go thru a bloody civil war before it was united). Regrettably when the disease becomes malignant, only way out is surgery, else the whole body is danger of dying.

It is with deep regret that I am proposing the above, but honestly, I can’t think of any other resolution of what is ailing Pakistan.

Wow!!! Are we missing something here? Why don't you share your insight with us or post some links?

Below are some of the terrorism related topics posted on this forum

Tell me!!! how many of the thread starters are Indians? I don't have any time or willingness to search the whole forum for the terrorism related threads but if you do then please have a look and tell me how many of those threads have been started by Indians. BTW, there was another bomb blast in a video shop in FATA that killed three people & if it gives you any comfort then neither I nor any other Indian poster bothered opening a thread here.

Yes if you havent done some one else would have had and its not about posting a news, my point was it seems you guys cant find any news other then just terrorism to be posted as far as pakistan is concerned.

You do not have any point. You are simply venting out your frustration over a non-issue when you do not have any answer or solution over the occurance of event. I wonder what would've been your connived logic if an Indian was the the first poster to open a thread on Chinese earthquake.

I dont know why am i even arguing over this.:disagree:

Why?? developing some IceCold feet? or too much of heat is beginning to melt your cold ice? If you cannot handle it then why post your twisted & narrow observation in the first place.

As a senior member, I have my rights to start a thread and make a post and this priviledge has been provided to me by the Admin & Moderators of this forum and you are none of them. I don't need to care for your grievences to start a thread. If Mods find it objectionable or have their reservation then they can very well delete the thread & I wouldn't complaint.

Last I heard on the BBC that the Al Quaeda has taken responsibility for the attack. But their website does not mention anything.

Any news on this?

Wasnt it you who said a pakistani tailban, besides you need an eye sight check, read the last line, i said dont jump on to conclusions. I've always said on this thread it may be anyone but we cannot solely reject an out side hand being involved in it. What is it so hard in it for you to grasp?

Dont BS. OK i said why is that every time an indian is updating pakistani terrorism thread, not that i have any problem with that, it seemed odd because for a few consisting weeks only indians were updating such pages and that too on regular basis.I felt it and so i expressed it. I can also cut paste threads showing how many of them are actually updated by indians on regular basis and being the first ones to post such news.

What frustration? hardly any and that too of an indian updating terrorism thread. Read my first thread, i said i rather find it amazing, as if they have nothing to else to do.

Ok let me put this way for you seem to be too bigot to understand a simple thing that i mentioned. I am free to express my view about what i feel as do you, i dont care, i felt something and so i did, you got a problem with that better ignore it or report it to the MOD. As for me not able to handle it, there is hardly anything to handle here at the first place, AM asked me to drop it and so i did( i wonder where is he now), rest assured, you wana continue be my guest.

Wasnt it you who said a pakistani tailban, besides you need an eye sight check, read the last line, i said dont jump on to conclusions.

Read the post# 34, Here is the top heading.

Pakistani Taliban militants likely carried out a suicide attack on the Danish embassy in Islamabad in revenge for controversial cartoons of the Prophet Mohammed, officials said Tuesday.

What I said carried some valid weight behind it.

I've always said on this thread it may be anyone but we cannot solely reject an out side hand being involved in it. What is it so hard in it for you to grasp?

Don't just let loose a cat out of bag & try to walk away. I said in my last post & I repeat it 'share your insight or provide a link'. Wild ideas fly in the absence of an unsatisfactory answer. But here you have Pakistani officials naming Pakistani Taliban as to have carried out the task with a justifiable explanation. If you see some "outside hand" than give a proper justification & discuss it. Otherwise, nobody gives a flying f@rt for some outside hand washing your hind.

Dont BS. OK i said why is that every time an indian is updating pakistani terrorism thread, not that i have any problem with that, it seemed odd because for a few consisting weeks only indians were updating such pages and that too on regular basis.

If you do not have any problem with it then why are you so bothered that you had to give a piece of your mind & then look for an escape route when cornered? This isn't just another terrorism act. Something like this can potentially damage relationship between two nations. At the end of the year review you would most definately find a mention of this event. I posted this article since I didnot find any. But out of everything you had to pick up a non-issue simply out of your frustration. Nobody raised any objection when threads are opened on Gujjar agitation, Jaipur blasts or tourist molestations in India. These are news events & this is a discussion forum. It is obvious that these events would be discussed either in good or bad light doesn't matter.

I felt it and so i expressed it. I can also cut paste threads showing how many of them are actually updated by indians on regular basis and being the first ones to post such news.

That is what I asked you to do. Why don't you simply give a ratio of how many threads have been started by Indians vis-a-vis those started by Pakistanis?

What frustration? hardly any and that too of an indian updating terrorism thread. Read my first thread, i said i rather find it amazing, as if they have nothing to else to do.

Really?? then why waste your time posting it & then make another ten posts justifying it?

Ok let me put this way for you seem to be too bigot to understand a simple thing that i mentioned.

Oh wow!!!! look whos talking. Of several hundred terrorism related threads you are bothered by few of them started by Indians and you are calling me a bigot!!

I am free to express my view about what i feel as do you, i dont care, i felt something and so i did, you got a problem with that better ignore it or report it to the MOD. As for me not able to handle it, there is hardly anything to handle here at the first place, AN asked me to drop it and so i did( i wonder where is he now), rest assured, you wana continue be my guest.

Ofcourse you are free to express your views. Nobody denies it & that is your posting right. But this is a discussion forum where your views would be challenged and you should be ready to defend them aswell rather then making SOS calls. If you are so bothered then post your views on a blog.
