LOST IDENTITY: THREE HEADLINES, PAKISTAN'S WAR & OPEN OPTIONS
Three big news items made headlines in Pakistan in this week. First one was murder of Qari Zainuddin in DI khan by the hands of his guard Gulbadeen Mahsud who was resident of Makeen; Makeen is thought to be a strong hold of TTP Baitullah Mahsud group.
Qari Zainuddin was head of Abdullah Mahsud group which broke away from Baitullah Mahsud group last year due to Baitullahs Takfiri Policies.
Zainuddin was projected by Media a big counter balance to Mahsud as he belonged to Mahsud tribe commanding 3000 men and was very critical to Baitullah.
Qari Zainuddin Mahsud knew how to use media to gather sympathies. In his television interviews he disclosed that Baitullah was funded and financed by Afghans and Indians. He also expressed that Baitullah had nothing to do with Afghan Taliban who were fighting against occupational Forces. His claims were supported by evidence and lack of American interest in hitting Baitullah Mahsud because of Baitullah Mehsudslack of interest to fight in Afghanistan.
Although Qari Zainuddins death is a loss but I dont think it has some big significance. He has some importance tactically but at operational or strategic level he was not important.
After the death of Zainuddin Mahsud his brother Misbahuddin Mahsud aka Tufaan Mahsud was elected as leader of Abdullah Mahsud Group. Tufaan Mahsud wowed to take revenge from Baitullah Mahsud, who has taken responsibility of Zainuddins murder.
Reports coming from South Waziristan are suggesting that Abdullah Mahsud group has started Taking revenge and in a clash yesterday 2 militants were killed.
Second Big news is about two drone attacks on Baitullah Mahsud men. First attack was executed by US drone in morning of 23 June in which 6 people were killed which included an important TTP COMMANDER KHOZAY WALLI
Second Drone attack came in evening on the funeral prayer of said commander in which more then 65 people were killed including an important Taliban commanders includeing Afghan cammander identified as Sangeen Zadran.
According to initial reports QARI HUSSAIN was also reported killed. Qari HUSSAIN is spiritual leader of Baitullah Mahsud and Master Instructor of Suicide bombers. He is also master mind behind Benazir murder and other suicide attacks in Pakistan. Turkistan Bhitanis brother and other well known tribal and political leaders were killed on his directions. BUT LATTER ON it was reported that he escaped uninjured.
Interestingly it was reported that Baitullah himself came to attend the funeral of commander WALI but went back after mysterious phone call before attack without attending the funeral. Government has accused time and again about Baitullahs links with Afghan and Indian Intelligence agencies. Analysts believe Qari Zainuddin was killed because he dared to
Baitullah Mehsud has had his opponent Qari Zainuddin murdered in Dera Ismail Khan for disclosing facts about him that he had denied. If this is a measure of how Baitullah will react to his diminishing hold over his objectors, then he is sure to kill another local rival Turkistan Bitani who had made public his criminal activities last week.
Baitullahs escape and Mysterious phone call bring many questions in to mind .. Its in the interests of NATO and US to stop Indian and Afghans to sponsor terror in Pakistan who are giving intelligence cover to criminals fighting against Pakistani state and much needed finances and training.
I am in view both Pakistan and US need each other. US can only survive in Afghanistan if Pakistan is strong.
If USA insists to see India as a big market and a counter balance against China and by doing so wants to close eyes about what India is doing in region then its fine but US should then Forget central Asia and Caspian reserves because Pakistan has a big option open to get into alliance with Russia, China and SCO. . General Kiyanis visit to Moscow on invitation of his Russian counter Part, General Vladimir Boldyrev, after only one week of Presidents return from Russia gives clue that we have open options and we can consider them.
India is, at one hand is stealing our water and turning Pakistan into a desert and on other sponsoring terrorism in Balochistan and FATA and our so called ally is just repeating like train parrot DO MORE, DO MORE
Third most important news this week is Pakistans victory in 20 20 world cup Our victory in cricket has brought back hope to Pakistani nation. Like we won 20 20 world cup of cricket, we can win the world cup of Politics. It depends how we play our innings.
