Some politicians have a knack of making bizarre statements and demands. In yet another unconventional and weird move, Shiv Sena leader Sanjay Raut put forth a demand suggesting all poultry products like eggs, along with chicken meat, be classified as 'vegetarian'. The Rajya Sabha MP made the demand in the upper house during a discussion on the benefits of ayurveda, a report in the Mumbai Mirror said.
The senior parliamentarian reportedly said the Ministry of Ayurveda, Yoga & Naturopathy, Unani, Siddha & Homoeopathy (AYUSH) should take a call on whether chicken is vegetarian or non-vegetarian.
"Once I had gone to a small hamlet in Nandurbar region. The adivasi people came and served us food. When I ask them what was it, they said it was an ayurvedic chicken. They also said that they take care of it in such a way that after (eating) you will get rid of all illness," he was quoted to as saying by Mumbai Mirror.
Netizens were obviously amused by the demands and they took to Twitter to make themselves heard with some coming up with hilarious responses.
