This disproves the notion being furthered by Indian media that outsiders were solely responsible. Locals, the police and neighbors, coordinated the mob and ratted out their Muslim neighbors. They told the Muslims to stay inside and helped the mobs set fire to their homes.

I once was told by a Pakistani 'Hindu' that they do not consider themselves as the same religion as Indians. They view their faith as more pure and closer to ancient Aryans than Indians.
