The Russian izdeliye 30 engine of the Sukhoi Su-57 stealth fighter jet closes the huge gap that used to be between the Russian and Western engines.

Russian jet engines are inferior to American engines but with the entry of the Izdeliye 30, Russia will be able to significantly close the gap with its Western counterparts.

The Izdeliye 30 engine is similar to the single engine of the American F-35 in terms of serrated edges, but of course, it is double in the Su-57. The difference is that this engine is better in terms of using plasma in the caliper chambers (the ultimate combustion chambers) resulting in excellent handling of the combustion products and thus reducing the footprint significantly even at high speeds. In addition, this engine enables the fighter to exceed the speed of sound without the need to turn on the afterburner.

Integration of the plasma ignition system and the thrust vector control system. The developed apertures will ensure the simultaneous ignition of the plasma arc by kerosene. This will help to avoid the emission of a fire column from the nozzle due to excess fuel in the combustion chamber. Thus, the fighter's visibility in the infrared and radio wave range is significantly reduced.

There are two pictures of the Su-57, which is equipped with two different engines together, one of the fourth generation engine S117, which we usually see it with, and the fifth generation engine Izdeliye 30 during trials held in 2017 to make comparisons between the two engines.

This engine has an intake that withstands temperatures in the 2000-2100K ranges which is better than the F-35 engines. The Izdeliye 30 is more fuel efficient than most Western engines and has a thrust of 103 kN and with an afterburner close to 180 kN, veteran pilot Chris Bolton said on his Twitter account.

Another commented that with the very low rate and limited new models, the West is heading into a recession. The Russians and the Chinese are closing in on that gap, and sooner than people can imagine.

Now they just have to work on the build quality of the Su-57 to make it truly a stealth fighter. Even still, 18-24 maybe worth the Chinese buying, just for the engine. (And to have a fighter they can risk putting on the front lines and not have to worry losing its tech in an engagement as their own J-20 and J-31/35)

 
I will have to say pass on this unfortuantely... None of the previous SU-lines impressed me and this won't likely be any different

what happened to the AL-41 engines ?
 
The Su-57's development has been slow, due the slither of pathetic Western Sanctions on the country. However it is a credit to the Russian Aviation Industry and the Russian Government, to have persevered with their program.

The Su-57 initial batch production and that of serial production are two different beasts. It is the second batch of the serial production which will be the deadly one. I believe it is in the second batch of the serial production aircraft, where the real application of stealth will be incorporated, refined and match the best in the world.

The Russians chose to stick agility and handling of the aircraft, in it's development of the Su-57. However, technology advancement and breakthroughs put Russia and it's Su-57 on the top 3 fighters out there.

Finally, the Russian Air Force isn't gonna just use the Su-57s by themselves. They are to be paired with the S-70s autonomous Unmanned Combat Air Systems. The synergy is between the combination of A-100 (AWACS), Su-57s (Stealth), Su-35s (Air Superiority), S-70s (UCAS), MiG-35s and S-400s (ADS).

Anyone who attempts to attack Russia via air, will have a horrifying encounter when they approach Russian Air Space.

I say it before and now againg, it is overhauled SU-35. Zero composit materials used on that fighter.

Just different/planform aligned wings and tail, and an internal bay. The least they could have done was copy the YF-23 a little better. It’s on public display out in California for anyone to see. (I got a good chance to see it up close and personal on my last trip out there. :) )

It's going to surprise a lot of people who just buy the old "Russian inferior" line. They've come a long way with this project and they'll introduce a new photonic radar with it that will turn the aviation world upside-down.

I think their approach with taking their time on this has actually worked to their advantage. There is also the fact that they haven't disclosed a single video or image of the weapons bay or missiles being fired except for that one vertical shot out of the wing bays in over 10 years. It's specific weapons are being built just for it, unlike what the rest are doing, integrating current weapons mostly to their aircraft. This thing is just going to be a shocker. I was a skeptic for a while, but the last year I've been following it very closely and just blown away by what their doing and things I never knew of before.

Their only problem now is the rate of serial production, that's it.
 
I've been laughing all weekend with that picture of the screws on the end piece of the wing which has practially gone viral in an attempt to keep up discrediting the Su-57 and Russian workmanship.

The truth is that first of all, that aircraft is one of the prototypes still undergoing testing, and that end piece to the wing was actually damaged on one of the flights and had to be replaced. Notice the yellow replacement end on the left wing? So naturally there will be some left over damage which is why they test and test and test until the cows come home.

Now look at the overall finished product of of one of the prototypes that is almost ready for completion stage. And absolute beauty.

The same can be said about the F-22. Most of the time that aircraft is in tip top condition, but every once in a while you can spot the beating it's apt to take on occasion. Does that mean it's inferior workmanship to the Russians?

idk why indians passed this over and chose rafael instead
