'The real heroes': COAS confers military awards to army personnel

Army chief General Qamar Javed Bajwa conferred on Wednesday military awards to army personnel for their bravery and acts of gallantry during military operations.
At an an investiture ceremony held at the GHQ in Rawalpindi, Gen Qamar said the real heroes of the country were those who laid their lives for the motherland.
As many as 35 officers were awarded with the Sitara-e-Imtiaz (Military) while 36 officers and soldiers conferred with the Tamgha-e-Bisalat, the Inter-Services Public Relations said in a statement.
Seven personnel were also awarded with the United Nations Medal.
The medals for martyrs were received by their family members, who were also in attendance on the occasion.
The army chief lauded the brave families of martyrs for the sacrifices rendered for the country.
“We owe peace and stability to the selfless devotion and sacrifices of these officers and soldiers who are our real heroes,” he was quoted as saying. “There is no noble cause than laying one’s life for the defence of motherland and the sacrifices of our martyrs won’t go waste.”
