The Priestess of Vesta

what you do is upto you... I however do not expect every italian I meet to know about hinduism... I am always up for telling them if they show interest.. I dont call them ignorant or stupid. If they know it however they earn some points.. :)

We got a basic concept about it and i thought its ok.

. .
Rome is the foundation of the world we know today. Western culture which dominates the world. You use the alphabeth right now. You use the republican system. The word itself is latin.

The Vestalian virgins are worldfamous because their unique power. They also survived even today as did much of theod roman ways. They basicly formed the basis for this:

I dod not learn about "Hubal", because it was largely irrelevant for human history. But i learned about sumerian gods like Ishtar. I learned about egypts gods like Osiris, Amun Ra and Horus and the mythology. I learned about Aztec Quetzalcoatl as well as japanese Amaterasu.

We even had some hours about indian history and Hinduism. I admitt it wasn´t much. Maybe 2 weeks but we even wrote a test about it. About the basics of their religious system. Like their gods Kali, Shiva, Brahman and Ganesha.

I believe its important to learn about the great parts of human history. I like to learn even more so even beyond that.
I also learned about Jupiter and Venus etc....I learned about Niro...I learned about Constantine...my point is you cannot expect a sub-continental school to go down into so much detail to learn about a minor cult of Rome....just as I would not expect you to learn about the Bhrama Shamaj...they were a minor religious group in world history but they played a major role in our history.

Is Brahma that one god that stands above all?

LOL.

One. That Brahma and this 'Brahmo' are not the same. That Brahma represents the creator in one version of Hindu theogony; this 'Brahmo' refers to the principle of divinity and of reversion to a more natural method of worship of that divinity followed by a particular religious grouping, which is NOT Hindu.

Two. Sometimes Brahma is the one god that stands above; sometimes, depending on which Purana, or which epic, or which scripture you happen to be reading, it could be Vishnu, the preserver; sometimes, it could be Siva, the destroyer, who survives the destruction, while the other two don't.

Three. Some free advice - don't even GO there. :D

Thank you for teaching me about this. Much appreciated.

P.s. do you know whats the most evil roman god?

We learn alot about our old religion and there is one god that i always saw as almost completly evil. What this divine stands for...what was done is often so cruel that its hard to imagine.

All our gods were somehow arrogant and cruel but this one stick out above all.

So guess. :D

The Gods were not arrogant and cruel, just uncaring of petty mortals.

Did you have Orcus the Tormentor in mind?

No.

Juno / aka Hera

She is the mother godess. Wife of Jupiter (Zeus) and she is by far the most cold hearted, revenge seeking tyrant one can imagine. She knows no mercy with her enemies. Her husbend would betray her so often and she takes always revenge. Not on Jupiter but on his girls and even their childs. And the way she does so is absolute cruel. Torture, Murder. Pain.

You dont want her as enemy. ;)

A VERY interesting reply. I would never have thought of Juno in such a role. Astonishing way to look at it.

Are you into our mythology? I think you understad then what i mean and agree. There are not many as cruel as Juno.

When you ahd other gods as enemy you could deal with them. Even with Hades you had fairness...But Juno?...no way. She would not kill you. She would burn your son alive, cut his head off and let you see it again and again for eternity.
