The only way to tackle terrorism in Pakistan is to reform or close down Madrasas

The Madrasahs have been around for 1400 years imparting literacy and religious education. Only after Russian invasion of Afghanistan in 1979 and consequent war that they became source for militancy. Madrasah are neither cause nor solution for militancy its the administrators of some of these institutions that are using Madrasahs in creating militants.

Instead of banning madrassahs, Pakistan should legalize, support with tax advantages, and fully encourage the opening of free or low tuition Christian, Jewish, Buddhist, Hindu, Ahmadiyyah, Parsi, Baha'i, Sikh, and Jain schools. Then the nation could benefit from a great variety of educational traditions. The poor, especially, would be benefited.
