The Indo-Pacific - Australia's new region

As I said, long term and short term strategies aren't drawn by people on the street and neither is it influenced by what an average citizen thinks of of any country or region or sea.

The WP here or the analyses has not much to do with India - its more to do with Australia balancing itself between the US and China and on the side looking at other emerging powers in the region like India, Indonesia etc. So don't think that Indian experts are worried about of a threat from Australia - India doesn't consider Australia a threat - neither does Australia consider India a threat, in fact by what's transpiring between India and Australia, both are on the same page with regards to the regions and maritime security, and India openly welcomes increased Australian interest in the ocean - ever heard of the EAS group or the Indian Ocean rim countries group that Australia would chair next?

So it doesn't directly have anything to do with our concerns or our ego - get that out of your head.

I never said the US is building bases in Australia - point that out to me - I am the messenger here and it's Australian media that's reporting increased US forces positioning in Australia now and in the future - check the youtube video I posted on this thread for reference.

Finally, there's nothing alarming for India - in fact India welcomes it.

Dude, I am not the one saying Australia tailor their Defence force to fit the goal for the US, nor did I said US is building Bases in Australia.

I have already said this, Australia Defence force do not have a Short term or Long term strategies roam the Indian Ocean except the part that we own and the trade route. Australia do not have and both WP does not mention Australia support the US Asian Pivoting thing.

Australia build their force on behalf of the original strategy, which is to give us the strategic depth in the ocean. Australia have no mood nor intention to indulge the US with their Asian pivot plan, if the US are starting a Pacific pivot plan, we may be interested.

Asia for us is too far to reach, damn as hell we are not going to try and reach it with 12 frigate or even later with 6 destroyer and 2 Landing dock. Hence I say you are overthinking the whole stuff.

No one's saying other than Australia's media that the US will base forces in Australia, I am just the messenger here.

THE Defence Minister, Stephen Smith, has flagged in the clearest terms yet that Australia will deepen its long-term involvement in the United States' strategic ''pivot'' to Asia by boosting the role of the naval base at Perth in the build-up of American forces in the region.
Ahead of the high-level AUSMIN talks with the US Secretary of State, Hillary Clinton (pictured, right) and the US Defence Secretary, Leon Panetta, in the West Australian capital on Wednesday, Mr Smith said Perth's HMAS Stirling would rise in prominence as the Indian Ocean gained strategic importance.
''I've been an advocate and an arguer of the point of view that India is on the rise, the strategic importance of the Indian Ocean is on the rise,'' he said. ''The enhanced importance of Stirling and its utility is to me something that will occur as sure as night follows day.''
He stressed it would like take ''years, rather than weeks or months''. While HMAS Stirling has previously been floated as a possible site for a greater US naval presence - including even an aircraft carrier - the strength of Mr Smith's remarks signify that Australia will play a long-term and expanding role in the pivot. Prime Minister Julia Gillard met with Ms Clinton and Mr Panetta on Tuesday night, joined by Mr Smith and Foreign Minister Bob Carr.

Wednesday's talks will cover the next stage of the rotation of US marines through Darwin, the first 250 of whom spent part of this year in the Australian base there. They will also canvass cyber security, how to tackle the amount of used satellite junk in space, and the post-2014 military contributions to Afghanistan.
Australia has indicated it would consider keeping a presence for counter-terrorism, as well as continue training Afghan officers.

Sorry about this, but how does it matter when you say that Australia does not have a short term or long term strategy when the WP 2009 and 2013 and all the experts arguing pro or anti clearly say to the contrary? also refer to the above article about the pivot.

Australia build their force on behalf of the original strategy, which is to give us the strategic depth in the ocean. Australia have no mood nor intention to indulge the US with their Asian pivot plan, if the US are starting a Pacific pivot plan, we may be interested.

Try reading between the lines - the standard diplomatic practice is most things are never said in the open but are implied and the expert normally fills in the blanks.

Asia for us is too far to reach, damn as hell we are not going to try and reach it with 12 frigate or even later with 6 destroyer and 2 Landing dock. Hence I say you are overthinking the whole stuff.

Australian armaments and forces are for its own defense - I am not implying that Australia will be sending it's forces to face off points in Asia.

We can trust the firangi as much as we can trust the chini: not at all.

Dude, the above article did not say US is building base in Australia, they did say US Marine is USING NT bases for training with the Australian. We allow many country to do short rotation in our land for training as we have prime land for jungle and swamp warfare which most country sought after.

Beside US, we also allow New Zealander, Singaporean and Also Indonesian to rotate thru our bases, does that mean they all building bases in Australia??

If you have to try news story, try this

Australia is a ‘critical pillar’ in the US pivot to Asia and the rebalancing of its military strategy, a senior US commander says. Yet the strategy does not mean any new bases in the region, according to him

Dude, discuss the pros and cons and whether or not Asian Pivot things is important for US is not of our concern. We do not run our Armed Force, infact, no developed country would run their armed force on behalf of another country.

Of course this is the case if you quote the right wing news paper, those who LITERALLY Throw themselves to the Americans like News Corp.

try this for a change

US says its Asia ‘pivot’ went too far

Especially on the Australian Financial Review pieces

Our long term and short term strategies are stick with our present allies, we have no interest what so ever on US Asian Pivot. Period. If the American want to have their Pivot, they need to use their asset already present in Asia, or build new one in Asia, not coming down south and ask for our help.

Try reading between the lines - the standard diplomatic practice is most things are never said in the open but are implied and the expert normally fills in the blanks.

Dude, the standard diplomatic practice is NOT TO READ BETWEEN THE LINE. Unless you want another watergate incident and create yet another political shiite storm. Politician can afford to have their goal set out but not reach it, but cannot afford to do something they did not say they will do. I wonder where you learn political science from??

Australian armaments and forces are for its own defense - I am not implying that Australia will be sending it's forces to face off points in Asia.

If then, how do we affect, in anyway, the US Pivot of Asia plan?? IF we are not to venture out?? Are you saying we make OUR different by NOT MAKING a different??
