Chinese Parliament is more symbolic than a discussion, but is it really?
True no opposition will form WITHIN the parliament. But day to to day works by government officials and workers forms the policies. Are these not oppositions? Are these not discussions? Does it have to take place within a certain time frame and place to be called oppositions? Discussions? Can the meeting not be just ceremonial?
Kim Jung Un was appointed, Xi was appointed, but he fought his way to the very top, he did have more opportunities, but so did a lot of other people and at this point only he and Bo, who was convicted, was anybody really important that came from privilege. But the road was not easy. Some might say Xi is guilty as well, maybe, but can a powerful person really be clean and still make it to the top?
Can a banker or business make it to the top without breaking the law? Some small businesses are fined for tax evasion, are Microsoft, Apple clean? As long as they produce results and have restraint, does it really matter?
The party is one party, but does it really matter what it's called? It's one party yes, but there's different factions, and there's different views. Li is more on the worker's rights and rural development, while Xi is more trade.
Is that not the democrats and Republicans? Do we really need two names for them? Hu was from the other side, the rural development side, while Jiang and Xi sandwiched him with coastal development side. So government do change doesn't it.
All 7 standing committee members are all powerful themselves, they all have regional power bases, Xi is the president, but he cannot remove any of the others. The jobs are diversified and all have one vote and all have power.
So yes, opposition happens in China as do most places, we just choose to do it the other 350 something days, rather than a few times a year.
