Most of you would have heard about laurels of Group Captain Azman Khalil.
Albeit his aerobatics on Pakistan Day Parade and other air force events have been making headlines but his test of nerves and professionalism was displayed earlier during a mission against the terrorists when a bomb which he dropped exploded prematurely causing severe damage to his aircraft, an F-16B twin seat jet.
First a video of G/C Azman Khalil sharing his experience. (Continue)

The F-16 after it's emergency landing only stopped by the runway barriers. (continue)

Albeit, @Areesh is a good friend :D.... however there is a thread posted on the incident but nothing on how the PAF localy managed to repair the aircraft.
lol.. my bad hahhaa i wrongly tag areesh bhai.. sorry bro

. .
interesting, this begs a question, is it possible for Pakistan to extend the f-16 life by building the wings and other stress parts to 12000 hours?

With a little bit of some foreign input and assistance...gotta give credit to them as well. Serial 82602 has been known to have had problems yet still going strong !!!!

In case there is possibility of failure ground crew can open canopy from here

By the way this isn't a first time for Viper to land on a single wing or damaged controllers but hats off to pilot for keeping calm and compose
since redundant computers plus aerodynamic being flawed design F16 FBW compute and calculates

When two fighter jets met in midair over Kansas last year, it turned one to wreckage and clipped a wing off the other, destroying $22 million in government property

Making such bold claim is rather unfair to the people who worked so hard to make the aircraft operational again through indigenous means.... this is the word from the top.

''People should know that the Americans had declared it beyond repair, yet we made it airworthy again. The same happened to the SAAB which was damaged in a terrorist attack. It was repaired 100% by Pak engineers and technicians and SAAB people were absolutely amazed.''

I am making no comparisons with SAAB or their platform. All I was simply saying that there was some little input from foreign assistance when it comes to the F-16......if you feel upset about that I cannot say anything about that but that's the nature of the work that was done. No doubt, great job on fixing the aircraft and then having it flown back operationally. Hope this clears any misunderstandings. Cheers !!!

Any machine that sustains damage is going to have issues simply because its gone through a lot of stress.

The foreign assistance was necessary because will power alone does not conjure up knowledge out of thin air.
