Exactly. Murrikan voters, dumb as they are (me included), tend to self-correct with such candidates. Indian-Americans have a long ways to go before their dreams of AIPAC-like influence bear fruit. That said, they are closer to such goals than Pakistani-Americans, that is for sure.

This kind of connection to strange, pagan minority beliefs is common amongst some, especially women who may feel marginalised or perhaps feel they deserve better than what normal society can offer. Her lifestyle probably makes her feel like a princess to be looked up to by a minority whom she feels cannot compete socially, so would never abandon her for her looks, age, sexual preferences etc. This can also be linked to her mother, who followed a similar ideological path and even married a Samoan man.

Historically, this kind of psychological behaviour is quite common in largely European societies introduced to multiculturalism in a traditional sense, especially Britain and the US who have historical ties to colonialism. If I had to use a single identifier, I would consider it a form of narcissism linked to a single, perhaps kept hidden, perceived weakness in psychological character or physical characteristics that she perceives would lead to her being shunned by the larger community that she may be expected to identify with.

The above may sound a little cold and personal, but I find it necessary to be very clear due to the threat posed by those who fit specific psychological profiles being put in positions of power.

We’ll see the self correction but there has been a change in the center. The first is millennial voters who are an if based on their interest in voting since their sensibilities are suspect in most cases, the second are the existing right and left supporters who are more fanatical than before.

Within that are these fringe interest groups who offer their support to candidates in turn for favors. A great example can be seen in the behavior of Indian American candidates and voters in the texas tri cities area, who while generally democrat in the past due to AIPAC’s alignment efforts will now suck up to extreme anti-immigration right wingers in an attempt to cling to influence.

So this isn’t a group that is self correcting itself, its sucking up to power and Indian interests. More power to it for doing so but it also means it isn’t looking for the interests of local communities in general.
