I look at America and I think of Britain. Magnify the good qualities of the British 5 times. Magnify the bad qualities of the British 10 times and you get USA.

Good - All those qualities that have taken America to the top. Education, innovation, administrative genius, hard work, unity and very savvy ruling class.

Bad - Racism, arrogance, greed.

When I said "racism" I was thinking more of African Americans. I think this"Islamaphobia" will blow over. It's just sign of the present times and nothing about it is generic.

I think 'guns' is quite possibly the best thing about them.. "..the right of the people to keep and bear Arms, shall not be infringed."

we, from the subcontinent, have to look at it differently, india, pakistan and the rest of the poor world would implode in a hurry but for an advanced society/economy.. as the saying goes "an armed society is a polite society"

and even more than the freedom their constitution provides their citizens, it's their soft power and cultural impact.. murrican' music, movies, the arts.. that's what makes them the superpower they are.

having said that, I absolutely hate some of the foreign policy decisions the ruling elite there have made, but the people are great..

Have you visited the United States? Genuinely curious because those who paint these generalizations of the US as racist tend to have not actually visited the US.

Racism exists in the US, but it is generally frowned upon even if it is a person's right to hold racist beliefs out of ignorance. Racism is not tolerated on the national and state level (which is why the media explodes when events like that happen). Yes yes I know trump is racist, but he is a media circus and not a real candidate (as in he has no chance of becoming the president and little chance of making the nomination except on an independent ticket).

As has been mentioned, the most serious racism is when it comes to blacks, but it is continually improving and will continue to improve as the conditions get continual attention in the media.

That said i'm likely making it sound like a mountain when its really a molehill, meeting the occasional racist asshole who automatically thinks you are a thug and a danger. That said, if that racist asshole happens to be a cop....:x

Hell Obama made the presidency, that should tell you at the very least that the color of someones skin is not a detractor on the road to success, but I admit those who would pull you down would use it against you.

As for not liking foreigners, what is your basis for this? Did you visit a redneck backwater or something? This is not typically a criticism we hear in the US, that as a nation we 'dont like foreigners'. Its hard to do so when nearly the entire population is descended from immigrants.

It is not even while visiting that one learns much about Americans and their ways of living. One has to live here and interact extensively to have a better idea. USA is far from perfect, but overall, it is awesome, and one of the best places in the world.

I am not saying USA is bad. All I am saying is anything good US has is evolved from Britain. Anything bad it has is also evolved from Britain but and here is the clincher, it has also supplemented the "bads" of Britain with it's innovations like guns.

america has less, racism, arrogance and greed the Britain.
i was thinking more like a bad foreign policy as a bad quality, health care for its citizens as a bad quality... if these two things can get fixed then no country on earth can compare to the usa in anyway what so ever.

i live in america and tbh with i don't face no racism... obiously it exists but very small number of people... who are just redneck crackers... and white wannabes
basically people like @gambit but they are very insignificant.
i accidentally took my brothers passport to canada and got in but when i was coming back i told them that i had the wrong passport and they after checking me let me in, while a indian hindu did the same thing few weeks later and they forced his wife to get his passport because they wouldn't let him in without proof. and that indian hindu had to stay in canada for few extra days.

Ipso facto then, Pakistan which came out of a process of British colonization and a focus on divide and rule.. but also be in the same filthy boat as the Americans. Except in this case, the bads are not just from the British that evolved futher.. but also the bads of its own land.

The same goes for India and pretty much the entire commonwealth.. which brings us back to the British and how they evolved from the Saxons and other Germanic tribes and took their bad and good and so on. And the entire cycle of throwing dirt keeps going on with no actual point to this thread other than someone who has some needless beef with USA.
