Really, no indian students want to go home...

For Chinese students, when come back, similar income, similar lifestyle, maybe a little bit more crowded, but not a big deal...

But for indian students, the difference is between the Heaven and Hell...

People from countries that have been dwelled on stagnation won't understand what "dynamic era" means. They simply are not capable of comprehension. I don't blame them, as China is so fuxking uniquly out of what all current Western economical/sociological theories are capable of explaining.

You are correct. All the Chinese engineers I work with in the US hated their 3000 sq/ft homes. They wish they could buy something smaller like how their parents lives back in China.

That number is true but that H1-B count isn't all college graduates. You have contract agencies like Kforce bringing in people who never set foot in the US school system. I don’t think I’ve ever worked with somebody from India who actually went to a US school. They all came over through some agency who probably paid them only 33% of the fee they charged their client. (Note to US PDFers: Has anybody actually worked with an Indian who graduated from a US college??)

But I can't get it through that guy's head that there is an H1-B cap (which applies to ALL stufents). If a Million foreign students wanted to stay it isn't going to happen. If there were only say 50,000 foreign students in the US in say 1990 and now there are a million I’m sure the percent staying is going down. So the more students who come to the US to study the more that have to leave...so the percent obviously goes down.

So yeah if in the year 2000 there were only about 50,000 Chinese students a higher percentage would be able to stay vs in 2018 when there was around 500,000 Chinese students.

OPT is only a temporary thing. You get a year. Another 24 months if they grant you an extension. Not many companies are going to waste their time with that...other than having some cheap labor with a high turnover to do grunt work.

But it still reflect the difference between China and india, which shows that economic progress is the primary reason for Chinese overseas students to come back, rather than you claimed "limited jobs" for Chinese students. Otherwise, Chinese students will show same behavior as indian students after graduation...
BTW, do you have any idea about how much is the percentage of H1b for US university graduates vs graduates from universities of other countries??

I once heard students make up less than 30% of the H1-B pool. Don’t know the current numbers.

A house is not THE ONLY thing in life, buddy! Some of those Chinese colleagues of yours might have been having a second thought about their decision made years ago, when "America Dream" was indeed the aurora beaming from "The City Upon The Hill" and China was a polluted, dirt-poor 3rd world commie country, when what people here made in one day was more than what average Chinese folks made in one month.

Those days have long gone. Except for a 3000 SF house on a half-acre lot, Chinese today enjoy many social perks that we in the states can only dream of and are not likely to see in our life time, like ever developing public transportation, 3 week-long public holidays per year, retiring at 55-60 with full benefits, like 4-12 months paid maternity leave, or walk-in hospital ER without having to worry about upcoming bills...... Sure they can't use FB or Youtube without jumping loops, but many would exchange that for 100-fold pay hike in 40 years.

Give Chinese some credit for what they have achieved in just 40 years, doesn't matter how much you hate "communist" or "Yellow Peril" for some.
