ISLAMABAD: Eminent scientist Dr Samar Mubarakmand onThursday asked the government to tap all resources for the Thar coal powerproject which was the future of the country.
Dr Samar while briefing the National Assembly Standing Committee on Science and Technology Wednesday asked the government to to provide funds for the project as proposed by the Planning Commission to overcome the energy crisis in the country.
"Thar coal is the future of Pakistan but due to non-availability ofrequired funds, the project was pending," Dr Samar told the committee.
The committee was also briefed on the issue of the Thar Coal project and underground coal gasification (UCG) project. He said that his team had carried out work on the project even in June-July and got successful results in the field.
Dr Samar informed the committee on the total power generation inmore than 32 countries including America, China, Austrailia and Russia.
He said that production of Naphtha, Waxes, Diesel and fuel care will be carried out from this project.
Dr Samar also updated the committee about new options for Pakistan with UCG from Thar lignite coal and said with the process of Thar coal they could make power steam, diesel low cost gas, methanol and ammonia urea.
The committee members including Federal Minister for Political AffairsMaula Bakhsh Chandio senator Syed Mustafa Kamal,Mrs Farah Aqil, supported the Thar coal project and appreciated the endeavours launched by Dr Samar.
