Damocles - Multifunction Targeting pod - Thales

Currently top pods are LITENING and Sniper XR.

LITENING comes in many versions:

LITENING I
LITENING II
LITENING ER
LITENING AT
LITENING G4

In terms of sensor performance LITENING AT equals to Sniper XR and LITENING G4 is most powerful currently.

In terms of design Sniper has advantage over LITENING having lower air drag. But in same time Sniper has grids which hinder the vision.

Any infos from Israel to develop something similar to EOTS, based on the Litening? Wouldn't that be interesting for Rafael to replace the US system from the F35s Israel will get?

@sancho wrt the ongoing futre LDP for the IAF- do you have any idea which version of the LITENING is being offered? I'd assume it was the latest G4.

Reportedly the G4 for Mirage and Rafale, including an upgrade of the current Litening 3 to G4 level. The decision is not made yet, but only the US techs in the G4 and problems of transfering them would be reasons why the Israelis wouldn't win, otherwise it should be a clear win since it's doubtful that IAF will compromise with the Damocles pod.

AFAIK Rafael wanted to integrate its own system, but US did not agree for such changes.
