From what i knew, the proposed route is not in the rebel area. Not all southern Thailand have separatism issue.

No I think the problem was separating the mainland from the 'separatist parts in the South'.

If they really finished the construction, it definitely will have some impact to those southern neighbors. However, for example Singapore location and the national capabilities still have some advantages over Thailand. Political stable, capitalism, high class work forces, financial services and other areas that other nations in the region can't compete with.
