TF-X Turkish Fighter & Trainer Aircraft Projects

Some notes from Mete Yarar, who visited the facilities as TAI's guest:

  • TAI's test capabilities and test facilities as an aircraft production center are moving towards a unique point in the world. Design, structural, production, test centers are combined under one complex. (He cites some anecdotes about how delegations from Boeing and Airbus were impressed by these testing capabilities. There are examples of TAI's own methodology and machines it has developed.)
  • The number of employees at TAI's Ankara facilities has exceeded 13,000. TAI facilities are now like a living city.
  • There is great secrecy in the ÖZGÜR project. TAI's most closed box. But from what has been announced, the F-16 Block-70 level is extremely possible locally.
  • At the end of 2022, Aselsan begins to deliver GaN-based AESA radars for Hurjet, Ozgur project and Akıncı to manufacturers for testing purposes.
  • Gökbey is on the mass production line. This year, deliveries to the Gendarmerie General Command begin.
  • On the subject of Hürkuş; Planes to go to Niger and Chad are ready, pilot training continues.
  • Hurjet, the aircraft to be used for static tests(iron bird) has been completed, and the othe prototype's all blocks that will make the first flight at 18 march has been completed.
  • MMU final assembly hangar completed. The construction of the facility where mass production will be made is about to be completed.
  • MMU P1 production activities are in the process. Assembly activities have begun. The project chief engineer saying that the team is very confident that the jet will be rollout of the hangar by starting its engines in March 2023.

#exposed. In truth is that we're open to getting real people from the industry to start writing (and hopefully, one day soon, speaking) about this stuff rather than armchair writers like myself. Dr. Syed Aseem ul-Islam is only the first.

As I understand from the latest developments, currently ongoing fixed wing projects/programs at TAI facilities:

- Air-SOJ (integration and testing phase)
- F-16 ÖZGÜR (preparatory phase for mass production)
- Hurkus B/C (mass production)
- Hurjet A/B1 (prototype production)
- Hurjet Naval (probably will be quite a different variant, design phase)
- MMU first block (Prototype production)
- Anka-AKSUNGUR(mass production)
- MIUS/TISU (no information)

  • MIUS-Kızılelma Blok-1, High subsonic unmanned jet
  • MIUS-Kızılelma Blok-2, Supersonic unmanned jet
  • Hurjet-B, Light attack jet
  • Hurjet-Deniz, naval variant of the Hurjet

(and probably TAI TISU with TEI-TF-6000)

A plate bearing the Sultan Abdullah Shah's signature was also placed on the Hurjet-P1.

TAI very likely succeeded in selling the Hurjet project to Malaysia. It is a tremendous success that the institution has achieved such a success in the jet aircraft program that it runs with its own resources.
