ISLAMABAD - Authorities noticed 14 per cent decline in terrorist attacks across the country in March as compared to February, data released by Pak Institute for Peace Studies revealed on Tuesday.
The figures showed that number of terrorist attacks during the aforementioned period declined in all regions of the country except Balochistan where the militants are still playing on the front foot.
The data compiled by Pak Institute for Peace Studies showed that in March as many as 114 terrorist attacks, including three suicide blasts, occurred across the country, which claimed the lives of 129 people and left 274 others injured.
Out of the total 114 reported terrorist attacks, 46 were carried out by the Taliban and associated groups such as Ahrarul Hind, Ansarul Mujahideen and Lashkar-e-Islam while others were perpetrated by Baloch insurgents and sectarian groups.
In Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, the authorities noticed 43 per cent decline in terrorist activities in the month of March as compared to February. Twenty-four terrorist attacks took place in nine districts of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa that resulted in the death of 29 people and 77 others got injured, while 13 terrorist attacks were recorded in FATA in March as compared to 20 in February.
For the second month in a row, the number of terrorist attacks in Sindh fell significantly but with little impact on sectarian-related targeted killings. Compared to 28 terrorist attacks in February, as many as 18 terrorist attacks were reported from Sindh and out of them 16 were conducted in Karachi alone wherein 13 people were killed and 22 others got injured. Three incidents of communal violence against the Hindu community were also reported from Larkana, Hyderabad and Mithi areas of Sindh.
As many as 54 terrorist attacks took place in 19 districts of Balochistan during the aforementioned period with an increase of 42 per cent. Some 41 people were killed and 103 others got injured.
Three reported attacks in Punjab and two in Islamabad killed a total of 15 people and injured 32 others.

ISLAMABAD: At least 15 people were killed and dozens injured, some critically, on Wednesday when an explosion occurred behind the Metro Shopping center in the Sabzi Mandi area of the capital city, DawnNews reported.

Police and rescue teams rushed to the site of the incident after the explosion occurred.

Initial reports suggest that the explosive material was planted inside a box containing fruits.

Police initiated a search operation and cordoned off the area.

Police personnel claimed that the incident appeared to be an act of terrorism.

Police also arrested a 'suspicious' person from the location of the blast.

24 low intensity blasts hit Sindh cities

LARKANA: At least 24 low intensity blasts hit different cities of Sindh as Jiye Sindh Muttahida Mahaz (JSMM) announced a strike for Wednesday against Protection of Pakistan Ordinance and killing of nationalist leader Maqsood Qureshi.

According to reports, hand-grenade explosions took place in Karachi, Hyderabad Larkana and other areas around 7:00 pm in the evening on Tuesday.

Unknown attackers targeted railway tracks in Khurshid Colony and Qasimabad areas of Kotri.

SSP Hyderabad Pir Farid Jan Sarhindi said police and Rangers had arrested 13 activists of a nationalist party after hand grenade attacks in different parts of the city. Unknown attackers also hurled hand grenades on Rangers Headquarters.

Similarly, the attacks were also reported in Nowshero Feroz, Kandyaro and Mehrabpur.

Three grenade attacks in Karachi leave four injured

KARACHI: Three separate grenade attacks in various parts of the metropolis left four people injured on Tuesday.

According to sources, unknown assailants lobed a grenade on a car in Gulistan-e-Jauhar area, injuring two people.

Two more people sustained injuries in a similar attack near Nagan Chowrangi, North Nazimabad.

Earlier, a shop in Clifton area came under a grenade attack. However, the blast hurt no one.

Until the Talishit are destroyed. I won't pay much attention to any stats.

One life taken away is one too many. Pakistan is reeling at this point in time.
