Teacher molests 9-year-old in Mumbra madrasa

A nine-year-old girl of a madrasa in Mumbra was allegedly molested by her teacher recently. The teacher, who has been identified as Nurulla Ansari, has been absconding.

According to Mumbra police, the incident happened on December 12 at Fateh Masjid in Mumbra's Amrutnagar. The victim, a Class 4 girl, who went there to learn Arabic, was allegedly molested by Ansari after the class around 3.30pm. Ansari allegedly bolted the classroom door with the girl inside and told her that he would help her with the difficulties she faced in learning the language. The accused then forced her to sit on his lap and touched her inappropriately. She cried for help but she was threatened not to tell anyone about it. When set free, the victim went home in shock. Her mother noticed it and asked her about it but she kept quiet. Two days later, she opened up and told her parents about her ordeal. The parents then lodged a complaint at Mumbra police station.

The police lodged a case under section 354 (assault or criminal force to woman with intent to outrage her modesty) of the Indian Penal Code and under sections of the Prevention Of Children from Sexual Offences (POCSO) Act 2012.

Senior police inspector RK Tayade said, "We have sent our team to the spot but the accused is absconding. At the same time, we will investigate the matter to know more about the facts in the case and gather evidence for the same. The accused stays inside the madrasa only. The girl was a bit scared when she told her parents about the incident. They then lodged as case."
