Tax collection up by 36pc: Shaikh

ISLAMABAD: Federal Minister for Finance and Economic Affairs Dr Abdul Hafeez Shaikh has said that government aims to achieve the tax collection target of Rs1952 billion this fiscal year, Geo News reported.
Talking to Geo News, he said that the tax collection in the ongoing financial year (till November 21) stood at Rs587 billion registering an increase of 36 percent year-on-year as compared to Rs432 billion a year earlier.
He said collection under the head of direct taxes in the period under review also jumped by 31 percent year-on-year to reach Rs188 billion.
On the other hand, sales tax collection vaulted by 48 percent to Rs286 billion, Federal Excise Duty by 22 percent to Rs46 billion, and customs increased by 16 percent to reach Rs66 billion year-on-year, he said.
