They played their Tamil anthem in full and before India's national anthem, India's national anthem is redundant and meaningless to Tamils, who don't speak Hindi. Liked how Tamils snubbed India.

Just before Jayalalithaa rose to take the oath, the Tamil Nadu administration played the state anthem in full but played the curtailed version of the national anthem, which is about 20 seconds long.
