Peace in Afghanistan:What will it look like







United states special envoy has recently visited Afghanistan and Pakistan in a pleasant mode before leaving for Qatar to talk with Taliban.



While both Taliban and US has been tight lipped about the clauses, people across the spectrum are currently wondering what peace might look like.



This is especially haunting for Kabul based government as Taliban has repeatedly refused to talk to them. not only has this undermined their standing but also left them completely out of the process.







Thing that is to be noted foremost is that the Afghan general elections are also around the corner.



It is no secret that Taliban will ask for the lifting of UN sanctions against them.However most astonishing development is that Taliban are trying to legitimize their rule. It is very likely that Taliban will ask to participate in Elections.









In case, Taliban wins the election, it will seal the victory for them and will be an eternal defeat for US and allies.



However, the clauses and conditions are still not clear leaving a vast majority to mere guess what it would look like.

I think this is also best shot for them come in power and if Trump wins again then they also will get four years to consolidate and find a balance with various parties to permanently put this matter to rest.
They can ask for a neutral govt combing their and current leaders of whom that they can work with to take over 2 months before main election. And use this time to consolidate and rally local political leaders to join them in elections.

Taliban dont believe vote of every person young and old can be same as everyone doesnt have intellect. The iran type democracy is the best solution. Its something acceptable to the world and taliban keeps its power and allow certain freedoms to govt.

i respect your sentiments, but for any peace process to succeed both sides have to do some kind of bargain. Taliban wont end fight and turn into Political Party for nothing.

Conservatives Taliban + Liberal Politicians = fighting among themselves & They'll have no time to think about Pakistan..

When they're done with each others by that time we will have built fence on entire border with forts & posts + sensors + radars.

Yes, Taliban would take part in the elections, I don't know which ones. They would even change their name. This has all been foretold, by 'men of God', wali ullahs.

Pakistan would now soon assume the role it was actually created for, a true Islamic welfare state, that would not bow down to anyone.
