ISLAMABAD: The Chamber of Commerce and Industry of the Republic of Tajikistan in collaboration with its embassy in Pakistan is scheduled to organise a four-day Pak-Tajik Trade and Cultural Festival 2016, starting from April 7 in Dushanbe.

Speaking to the business community at the Islamabad Chamber of Commerce and Industry (ICCI) premises, Tajikistan Ambassador Jononov Sherali said, “It is a good opportunity for Pakistani businessmen to participate and show the potential of their products to Tajik customers and promote trade with Tajikistan.”

The festival would encompass exhibition of Pakistani products, briefings and seminars on opportunities by ministries, business networking gatherings, meetings, cultural programs and Pak-Tajik fashion shows.

Businessmen can exhibit many products at the trade festival including textiles, building material, home appliance, healthcare, food, sports and IT products and services among others. Sherali said that Tajikistan has established four Free Economic Zones and Pakistani investors have a good opportunity to promote their exports to Central Asia and Europe by setting up production plants in the country.

He assured of facilitating the businessmen participating in the festival. Also present on the occasion, ICCI President Atif Ikram Sheikh said the two nations can complement each other in many areas.

He said non-availability of cost-effective transportation system for Pakistani exporters to send their cargo is a major hurdle in promoting bilateral trade, adding that both countries should focus on establishing direct air routes and railway links.

Sheikh said, “We should accelerate efforts for timely completion of CASA-1,000 transmission line and early finalisation of Preferential Trade Agreement to create conducive environment for promoting trade.

.
All trade with Central Asia ought to be welcomed

.
We often hear the idea of extending CPEC to Central Asia . Is that terrain feasible for building roads ? ( i mean in north with 20km strip of Afghanistan between Pak & Tajkistan ) Or will this extension take some other route
