Taiwan could raise investment into Vietnam to $100 billion

let me tell you what does $100B means to Taiwan.

Its total tax revenue a year is NTD 1,459.3 billion, converted to USD, it is $48.5B; i.e. the claimed $100B investment amount is >2x of its total tax revenue.

I find some cheap words are always an effective tool to make the Viet guy happy.
Ok look, $100b is two times of TW yearly tax revenue and half of VN’s GDP, what says us that?

Answer: that says little to nothing about one’s country ability to make investment nor which country this money is flown into. That is in case you haven’t learned an extension of Adam Smith’s theorem.

You should look from a broader perspective.

Great news for Vietnam, their close proximity to Chinese market will bring a lot of manufacturing job to their country

If Vietnam play its card right , I have no doubt they will become developed country less then 30 years
Their education system heavily focus on science and tech.

Once again , great news for Vietnam
We offer them the chance of century that will never come again.

a commitment faaar above real affordability, what is it? To a less extent, it is just some cheap flatter words to make the Vietnam audience happy. That's it.

Ok, now I claim I will make a $10 million investment in Vietnam the next day. But sorry, I don't have this amount of money, even in the foreseeable future, it is still difficult for me to get this amount of money. So sad.

SKorea investment comes close $60 billion this year. TW now stands $31 billion. Your Chinese brothers don’t start by zero.

The Taiwanese can tap money from Chinese mainland banks to finance the investment.

I don’t make the claim. It is a Taiwanese representative that makes the promise.

a commitment far above real affordability can not be called as promise. It is just some cheap flatter words to make the Vietnam audience happy. That's it.

If you post a news saying Korea or Japan to invest that amount of money, I won't make the challenge. Because they have the affordability. But turning into the small island Taiwan... come on, we mainlanders keep a close watch on them. We know their fiscal situations much better than you.

It's possible. People often confuse government finances (budget surplus, SWF) with the country's overall finances(which includes businesses' and residents' finances).

Taiwan is a creditor nation with a net international investment position (NIIP) with more than 1 trillion USD.

I guess that's because Taiwan has a huge trade surplus and a huge investment earning in China.

Bingo. Mods should promote you to Professional. You are one of few who understands the relationship between GDP, flows of capital and investment
