TEHRAN (FNA)- A senior Syrian analyst took the Saudi spy agency responsible for the abduction of several Iranian engineers in the Syrian Homs city last month, and asked the kidnappers to release them immediately.

"It seems that the Saudi security services are behind the act (abduction of the Iranian engineers)," Riyadh al-Akhras told FNA on Monday, and added, "Saudi Arabia is trying to exploit the issue politically by politicizing it."

He said that the name of the group which has abducted the Iranian engineers and the way they speak are both identical to the terms and words always used by the Saudi spy agency.

Akhras condemned the abduction of the Iranian nationals as an inhuman action, and called for their immediate release.

Seven Iranian engineers and technicians who were working at Jandar Electrical Power Plant were kidnapped late December, 2011 by armed bandits who are fighting against the Syrian central government.

Earlier reports had revealed that the Syrian terrorists who abducted the Iranian engineers were seeking to link their inmates with the IRGC in a bid to blame Iran and the Lebanese Hezbollah for unrests in Syria.

Later, Syrian Electricity Minister Imad Khamis dismissed the claims about a link between the abducted engineers and the Islamic Revolution Guards Corps (IRGC).

Khamis expressed hope for release from captivity of Iranian kidnapped technicians of Jandar Power Station in central Syria as soon as possible.

Khamis added, "We are awfully sorry for the kidnapping of these Iranian friends who were here to assist the Syrian nation, and we are cooperating round the clock with Syrian security officials who are trying hard for their release."

A reporter asked Khamis whether the kidnapped Iranian technicians are members of the IRGC. The Syrian minister replied, "They are affiliated to Mapna Company, with whose members I have been acquainted for many years, and I know that they are not members of any military organ, but merely technicians who were assisting us in constructing new power generators in our country."

He said, "Unfortunately there is a huge propagation onslaught going on against Syria today and such claims, too, are made by antagonist media outlets."

I guess it depends on who you belive.

Colonel al-Kurdi revealed that “a firefight broke out between the [Iranian] group’s armed escorts and the al-Farouq Brigade, but they were able to arrest 7 members of this group in Bab al-Seba…which was later subject to heavy bombardment from the Syrian regime. This is why we transferred them outside of Homs, for fear that the Syrian security services would launch operations against civilians [in Homs].”

Al-Kurdi claimed that these Iranians had taken part in the brutal crackdown launched by the al-Assad regime against the Syrian protesters. A video showing the 7 Iranians was released by the FSA yesterday, the video showed the captives’ travel documents, whilst the deputy FSA commander informed Asharq Al-Awsat that the Iranian’s did not have Syrian visas or work permits or any other indication as to how and indeed when they arrived in the country.

In the short video, one of the captives, speaking Farsi, reportedly confesses “I am Sajjad Amirian, a member of the Revolutionary Guards of the Iranian armed forces. I am a member of the team in charge of cracking down on protesters in Syria, and we received our orders directly from the security division of the Syrian Air Force in Homs.”

You believe that?? LoL. Syria is just spreading propaganda because we are going to recognize the Syria transitional council as the legitimate representative of the state. So this is typical dictator propaganda.
