Aleppo is guarded by 4th Division, Republican Guard, Tiger forces, Russia army. Terrorists elsewhere don't dare attack Aleppo.

It all sounds very ramshackle to me. Do they have a policy? Do they know what they are setting out to do? Or is it just a question of having won some territory and showing the world that it is a turning point of some sort?

1) The biggest industrial area of Aleppo is Sheikh Najar and its under Assad control for over 1.5 years.
There were no any attempts to rebuild it during all this period. Bani Zeid industrial area is tiny piny compare to Sheikh Najar.

2) There is no one who can work in these factories now. Poor working class people were expelled and exterminated by Assad and his allies. The only ones who remained under his control is functionaries and shabihas.
