Personally I'm pro-choice and a ban on the veil (for fear of radicalism) is anti-choice and does not affect those who choose to be radicals. Of course, there are better reasons to ban the veil, namely security.

Neither the west, nor Syria has convincingly cited security as the primary reason. A known terrorist could sneak in and out of place, ATM transactions which photograph everybody making a transaction will be useless, and so on. Personally its not really an Islamic requirement and more of a personal thing. But radicalism it just does not kill till people willingly take it off.

Has any newspaper in Pakistan gone with the Tunisian ban? You're stuck with further cementing my point only.

who talk of Ummah concept given by Prophet Peace be Upon him and which u mock?

Since the whole society fails to see the atrocities of Darfur willingly the hypocrisy is visible. The loudspeakrs, the media and the public were shouting in 1995 about Serbrenica and portraying it solely as a religious war when it was the result of complex sociological problems arising primarily because of ethnicity and secondarily on religion and had roots way back in the late nineteenth century. It was portrayed as solely a religious war since it correlated with the world view indoctrinated to you, i.e. of a clash of civilizations.

The feeling of the "ummah" are only one way i.e. from Pakistanis towards Arabs. These are non-reciprocated feelings. You can choose to worhsip thy Arab lords while ignoring the dying children in the slums just outside your gated housing community.

Unless you do something from your neighbour (and the neighbours include your house maid, her ten year old daughter that washes your dishes, the janitor that comes to clean your house and the whole working class is general), there is no moral or ethical argument that can be used to justify striving for a global political alliance.

Not really i believe in TOUGH LOVE.

I hope you won't be brandishing the "peaceful" and "tolerant" cards very soon since you've displayed your inherent violent views.

Shying away frm arguements make u look weak.

I choose not to reply to re-worded and already negated arguments and I shall not to reply to any further weak and feeble arguments.

Funny wat does concept of unity tht is given by ISLAM to us have to do with poverty n dying children?

ZAKAT system is very well defined in ISLAM for the circulation of wealth n bliss for society?

Ignorance is a BLISS.

International channels don't qualify as the necessary outlet here. I was and am talking about our local media who choose to ignore and would have given it round-the-clock coverage had it been a genocide committed by people of any other religion against Muslims. Gaza being given coverage does not irk me since it's been quite a long battle for rights but our reporters happily traveled to Lebanon to interview everybody in the 2006 war. Your argument can be that Sudan isn't viewed as necessarily important and/or that it's a media repressive regime. However, channels across the world report about Darfur and although the whole issue has been neglected globally to a certain extent, the blind eye turned towards it by our media speaks of the inherent hypocrisy of failing to identify something that does not correlate with their world view and shows that whatever qualifies as bad press for Muslims is never spoken of. The issue has been willingly sidelined by the Muslim world and Pakistan in particular and had the receiving end been a Muslim country, I can only imagine of the horrors being spoken of on television channels and by our honourable members here.

As Ali Rizvi aptly notes:-

For five years, the Arab League was functionally silent.

But last year, they finally spoke out - against the head of the ICC's prosecutorial team against al-Bashir, Luis Moreno-Ocampo, slamming him for having an "unbalanced stance".

Unbalanced stance? The man has been indicted for genocide and crimes against humanity. Helping militants and participating in the genocide of >200,000 is an "unbalanced stance". I hope they see the hypocrisy in their words and irony since this whole lot gets angry over Gaza.

Moreover:-

The Organization of the Islamic Conference (OIC), made up of 57 Islamic countries, issued a statement declaring its solidarity with al-Bashir, calling the indictment "unwarranted and unacceptable".

I hope they publish such a response in favour of Slobodan Milošević as well, since murders and people overseeing genocides should be shown solidarity.

Read this piece from 2004 on our official responses.

Dont know abt tht man, but i do remember how thousands of bosnians were massacred n buried in mass graves n protests all over the world not just ISLAMIC COUNTRIES? n never thought it was a religious war... rather a war on muslim bosnians n the croats by opressive serbs...

The world stood up for Bosnia. UNPROFOR was undermanned and failed to protect the people, but the forces were there primarily because the whole world recognized the problems. Such events must never be forgotten. It was a pure genocide, however in terms of modern crimes against humanity Darfur has overshadowed it by and large. Also, you're stating that there was no religious factor. An extenuating factor for the local coverage was the presence of Pakistani soldiers, but they are present and have been injured in Darfur as well. The religious segments made a lot of noise over Bosnia since it went well with their views. You're ignoring it willingly.

You're trying to downplay the religious card here. However, I do feel that the inherent feeling of being associated through extension makes people ignore what their "brethren" do (remember East Pakistan and our own atrocities against Sikhs in 1947?).

It is easier to willingly ignore and absolve yourself of all crimes (ignoring a criminal issue and deeming it unimportant is a crime in my opinion) than to protest against people who have your sympathies.

Its wierd how u took the discussion frm viel to a war in Bosnia>?

I mentioned it in a single line as an example of the hypocrisy from our media to ignore events that do not correlate with the world view sold in Pakistan. You chose to extend on the "ummah" and therefore it warrants an example of the hypocrisy.

I have digressed but let me finish my argument since you seem not in a mood to get it.

Ur a funny man... u dont understand the concept of Ummah tht revolves around each n every muslim be he frm indonesia or morroco..

Non-arab muslims being murdered in Darfur do not deserve the sympathies of the arabs and therefore the wider muslim world it seems since Bashir being indicted for genocide is "unwarranted and unacceptable".

Well my religion talks about UNITY N BROTHERHOOD...

Ignoring willfully is neither unity nor brotherhood. You can choose to express feelings even when the other side has no reciprocating feelings, poisons your country with petro-dollars for militants and fuels toxic dogmas. However the primary beneficiaries of your sympathy, love and generosity should be locals, who are in a position that warrants attention ignored by the khilafa-ummah crowd.

Wat a childish, imoral and retarded arguement by a MOD who talks of liberalism n moderation?

Okay. Let's move on.

Maybe ur a victim of some tragedy related to Arabia?thus automaticaly u pass ignorant remarks...

No I am not. My country though is a victim of Arab colonial ambitions and exploitation. My people are a hostage to the ideologies coming out of the Arab world.

Funny wat does concept of unity tht is given by ISLAM to us have to do with poverty n dying children?

Because locals in your neighbourhood should receive the attention first. The whole country protesting against Gaza, but choosing to ignore Gojra and even the IDPs from tribal years for years is a perfect example of the problem (the mass exodus from tribal areas had been ignored by the people for years, only when Swat became visible as it was "mainstream Pakistan" did the people and the media seem to care about it). Extend this argument further and see the hypocrisy of failing to give coverage to bombings in tribal areas while protesting against Israel's barbarianism against a freedom flotilla. Nine died in that event and the pages on PDF extend to hundreds of comments. Ten died in Tirah yesterday. 13 replies only.

ZAKAT system is very well defined in ISLAM for the circulation of wealth n bliss for society?

It should pretty well provided people not flush their accounts before the first of Ramadan like they do every year.

Again an arguement tht has no relation with the given topic or discussion nor even my post....

It has since the society chooses to ignore news from our own backyard and express feelings only for Palestinians and willfully ignores other problems that might not shed a positive light. My sole aim was to tell you to look towards your community first.

I would like if u dont become personel coz in tht case my friend everybdy can use cheap shot so kindly dont show ur inhereted disability to give response to arguements tht u cant comprehend.

You said :-

Both Liberal morons n hypocrites should be shot...

Violent views.

Indeed.

Have digressed too far away from the topic.
