BAE Systems has delivered the first series-production Archer SPA to Sweden. Source: FMV
Sweden has begun receiving series-produced FH-77 BW L52 Archer 155 mm (6x6) self-propelled artillery (SPA) systems from BAE Systems.
The first delivery on 28 September comes two years after the first pre-series production vehicles were delivered in September 2013.
Sweden has 24 Archer systems on order to replace the Haubits 77B (FH-77B) 155 mm towed howitzer. The programme has been beset by problems since a joint Swedish-Norwegian production contract was signed in March 2010. The programme has been hit by repeated delays, and suffered a major blow in December 2013 when Norway pulled out its order for 24 Archer systems.
