Sweden chasing a sub (maybe)

So, the Swedes are chasing a submarine, with some suggesting that it is Russian and may have mechanical problems. This started a few days back when someone claimed to have seen a sub inside Sweden's island banks (between the islands and the mainland). Now the Swedes are looking for it. Its been days, with no confirmed evidence that there was anything real there (that I've heard). Has anyone else got better info?

My personal feeling is that the last thing NATO needs is another country that is unwilling to pull it's own weight, but I expect the rest of Europe would welcome them.

The Guardian is claiming, amongst other things, that Sweden does not have even a single helicopter equipped for ASW. Is this true? Seems unlikely.

this is pretty embarrassing for Sweden. I don't think they have any ships or helicopters that can locate a sub.

this is really nothing new. they did the same thing during the cold war with Sweden

they can't chance Sweden would be neutral in a war with NATO so they are sneaking up onto the coast to spy and practice maneuvers

From what I've gathered over the years. The Russian Navy has always held a presence around that area. But If it's really Russia this time I'm not sure.I'm curious why people are not assuming the Sub has left. Or would trying to leave make the sub easier to locate?

who says we are it, its dutch submarine. Its a trick for sweden to join nato. Also whats the big deal if it would be a russian sub? Is sweden nato member? We do the same even on US coast and US doing it everywhere it wants.

Well Russia is doing one thing it is making other countries realize that perfect peaceful world only exists in books and children stories so even you have 20 30 years of peace, all of a sudden anything can change, so if you don't have proper Armed Forces equipped with best weapons and also battle ready you are going to get hell of a beating .
