TEHRAN (FNA)- Supreme Leader of the Islamic Revolution Ayatollah Seyed Ali Khamenei stressed that Iran is pleased to see Iraq's growing power and clout in the region and the Arab world, and called on the Baghdad government to launch a scientific movement in the country to continue its present trend of growth.

Speaking in a meeting with visiting Iraqi Prime Minister Nuri al-Maliki and his accompanying delegation here in Tehran on Monday, the Iranian Supreme Leader said the Islamic Republic of Iran is pleased with Iraq's growing might and clout in the Arab world and the region, and added, "Trying to increase Iraq's might, specially through paving the grounds for continued scientific Jihad as well as starting a nationwide movement for reconstruction will double the successes and strengthen the position of the Iraqi nation and government."

The leader further pointed out that the full withdrawal of the US troops from Iraq, which he described as a result of the Iraqi people
and government's continued resistance, and the holding of the Arab Summit in Baghdad despite the antagonistic efforts of some Arab officials are both among indications of Iraq's growing power in the Arab world, reminding that Iraq is now the head of the Arab League and the Iraqi prime minister is now the head of AL.

"Given this backdrop and taking into account the natural and human talents of Iraq, this country is expected to revive its real position and power," he added.

Meantime, the Iranian leader cautioned that Iraq's growing progress and power has some enemies, and said the country needs to be equipped with the needed instruments and to pave the necessary grounds for continuing the present path, and added that "scientific progress, construction and rendering service to the people" are among the most important factors which would help Iraq continue the current trend.

Ayatollah Khamenei further noted that Iran has a "very good experience in area of scientific movement and gained unimaginable results in this respect", and continued, "A scientific movement should start in Iraq which is the center of scientific talents in the Arab world and the academicians and élites should be tilted towards scientific Jihad."

He also advised the Iraqi premier to prepare the necessary beds and organize the youths to start a construction movement and provide service to the Iraqi people all across the country.

The Supreme Leader further underlined that lustrous prospects are perceived for the Iraqi people.

The Iraqi premier, for his part, voiced deep pleasure in the meeting with the Iranian supreme leader, and said his meetings with Iranian officials in Tehran have paved the way for increased exchanges between the two countries' trade and industrial delegations.

He expressed the hope that his talks with Tehran officials would further prepare the grounds for increasing cooperation between Iran and Iraq.
