On January 26, 2001, three activists of Rashtrapremi Yuwa Dal– its president Baba Mendhe, Ramesh Kalambe and Dilip Chattani — along with others allegedly entered the RSS premises in Reshimbagh in Nagpur and tried to forcibly hoist the National Flag. Subsequently, offences under relevant sections of Bombay Police Act and IPC were registered by Police against the trio. A court in Nagpur finally discharged them on August 14th, 2013. Prior to this incident, the last time RSS voluntarily hoisted the national flag in its headquarters was on January 26th, 1950. Finally, on January 26th, 2002, RSS hoisted the national flag in its headquarters in Nagpur and at “Smruti Bhawan” in Reshimbagh, which houses the memorials of the first two RSS chiefs, founder Dr Keshav Baliram Hedgewar and MS Golwalkar.


However, these days, when this question is raised as to why the RSS did not hoist the national flag for 52 years, supporters usually incorrectly quote the Flag Code applicable prior to 2002 called “Flag Code-India”. They claim that RSS did not hoist the national flag because private citizens were not allowed to hoist the national flag up until 2002 when a revised Flag Code was announced by the then Union Govt. We’ll discuss how absurd this claim is but first let us look at a few examples of Modi supporters on Twitter making these absurd claims. The whole issue of who can fly the national flag and when can one fly the national flag become mainstream when industrialist Naveen Jindal filed a writ petition in the Delhi High Court in February 1995 contesting the restraints being placed on him by officials regarding flying the national flag at his Raigarh factory. Up until then, other than on special occasions like January 26th, August 15th and October 2nd, private citizens were not allowed to fly the national flag. On January 15th, 2002, the Union Cabinet accepted the report of the Dr P.D. Shenoy Committee that it had constituted to look into the matter, and announced that citizens will be free to fly the national flag on all days of the year from 26 January 2002.

The fact that all private citizens were allowed to fly the national flag without any restrictions on at least these special occasions is captured in at least two documents – The then prevalent flag code called ‘Flag Code-India’ and in another letter from the Minister of Home Affairs dated 15-06-1971. I managed to find the flag code prevalent prior to 2002 in a 1982 Protocol Manual on Punjab Govt website. In the 6 part manual, the fourth PDF file has the Flag Code on page 12 of the PDF file the relevant section of the Flag code applicable in this case is on Page 14, a clipping of which can be seen below.



The above piece of text clearly says that the display of National flag shall be unrestricted on Republic Day, National Week, Independence Day and Mahatma Gandhi’s Birthday which essentially means that anyone can fly it. In fact, most of us grew up attending Independence day, Republic day functions in our schools and colleges where the Principal would hoist the flag. The second letter from Ministry of Home Affairs dated 15-06-1971 also states the same thing.

Both these documents state that were no restrictions on private citizens to hoist the national flag on at least three days a year in the flag code that was functional prior to 2002. Despite having the legal right to hoist the national flag on these days, RSS refused to hoist the national flag for many years.

And he then thought he can question Modi's mother, he can ask for his degree without repercussions that too from a guy who started as chaiwala and is prime minister with controversial past.

When I read the first page of this thread, I was reminded of a saying, 'when 2 Aholes meet, all you get is Shit'. very apt in this scenario I say.

Let's dive into the facts.

Fact 1 : As of today, there is only one section of people who don't want to fly Indian flag, don't want to respect national Anthem & don't want to sing National Song. The seculars will give thousand reasons backing up this blatant disrespect of these people. Bottom line for them is when this 'particular section' of people disrespect our national symbols under the guise of religion, it's perfectly justified.

Fact 2: RSS has been flying Indian flags all over India since independence. What they did not do want flay in ther head quarters because of the LAW congress made. As soon as the law was changed in 2002, they have been flying the flag ever since in all their shakhas & head quarters. The seculars here ask why they didn't do it before, fair question but it has a simple answer, THE LAW. Yup, the same seculars who crib on PAST of RSS not flying the flag give lot of justifications of a section not wanting to fly the flag in JNU, Madrasses or National Song being disrespected repeatedly by a section. This is happening NOW. These shameless seculars want to discuss past but not NOW?! wonder why?

Fact 3: Change. RSS learnt from it's past and adjusts. What have these seculars done? They are rigid in their beliefs and won't bend. Take for example their disrespect for court order where it asked everyone to stand for National Anthem. Couple of days few from a particular section had to be arrested for not standing up. That is the level of the secular duplicity. Oh don't forget they WON'T sing National song or even respect it. Oh yeah - the duplicity continues.

Fact 4: RSS & Jihadi Comparison. Any neutral party outraged? @SOUTHie Outraged at this constant comparison by the secular clowns yet? Want to know how many people Jihadis killed this week? Want to know how many people Sanghis killed in last 70 years? Heck, compare that to how many killed Commies killed or how many Sikhs Congress killed & I guess we get a picture which political dispensation in India can be compared to Jihadis.

Fact 5: India's independence & RSS. Little facts the secular clowns do not want to acknowledge. Pre Independence Congress had a lot of leaders that were part of both RSS & Congress. RSS leaders spent jail time in Kala Pani. I guess British put them in the most horrible prison for fun, while the "real" independence champions were slapped on the wrist and paraded in London as some sort of saviours. We know how Savarkar, Bose, Bhagath Singh, Sukhdev etc were treated when compared to Gandhi & Nehru.

Fact 6: Savarkar was subservient to British. This fact has been demolished too many times, yet the shameless Hindu haters without providing iota of proof keep harping on it. They probably think this Commie tactic of lying and repeating the lie a million times will make it the truth. Consider this important fact - Gandhi preached non violence for our independence and yet sent millions of Indians to fight for British (the country we were fighting for independence) in WW2. What Nazis were to Jews, British were to us, Yet, Gandhi & Nehru had no problems with Indians dying for British cause, defending British people in lands that we had no business to be in.
Let us know with which face Gandhi felt Britisher's were better than Nazis in Indian context? Did he forget the millions of deaths in Bengal famine caused by Churchill?
