Anna Hazare will begin indefinite fast on July 29 despite doctors' advice

New Delhi: Anti-corruption activist Anna Hazare, who is 75, will start a lengthy fast on July 29. Anna will join his aides like Arvind Kejriwal and Manish Sisodia, who are launching an indefinite hunger strike tomorrow to protest against the government."The aim is to campaign for a Lokpal Bill...the government is only giving us assurances, but takes no action," Anna said, referring to the anti-graft legislation that has been his movement's raison d'etre.

The activists' camp will be set up at Delhi's Jantar Mantar.

Anna had been advised by doctors and Mr Kejriwal to skip the hunger strike. As a concession to their request, he said he will join the fast on July 29.

The activists are protesting against the government's refusal to launch an inquiry against the Prime Minister and 14 senior cabinet ministers, who they have accused of corruption. Team Anna had written to the Prime Minister in June, asking for an independent inquiry against each of the ministers. The PM declined.

Their allegations of graft against the PM and others have provoked much criticism for being unsubstantiated. Mr Kejriwal has said that he is happy to provide the documents that prove otherwise to an independent commission.

Last year, Anna held four hunger strikes - the lengthiest one in August drew enormous public support- to pressure the government to introduce the Lokpal Bill. The legislation is intended to combat corruption among bureacurats and politicians. It sets up a national ombudsman or Lokpal that will investigate charges of graft. However, the bill which passed the Lok Sabha, did not clear the Rajya Sabha. It is now being studied by a parliamentary committee.

Anna also reiterated charges that ahead of this fast, the government tried to create a rift within his camp. He said that Law Minister Salman Khurshid met him near Pune last month and asked him to keep the meeting confidential. At that session, he said, Mr Khurshid promised that Sonia Gandhi and the PM will look into his concerns.

Team Anna begins fast, NSUI creates ruckus

New Delhi: Anti-corruption crusader Anna Hazare on Wednesday arrived at Jantar Mantar to join his key aides after paying homage to the Father of the Nation, Mahatma Gandhi, at the Rajghat.

In a bid to step up pressure on the government for introducing a strong Lokpal Bill, Team Anna members -Arvind Kejriwal, Manish Sisodia and Gopal Rai –have begun their indefinite hunger strike.

Though anti-corruption crusader Anna Hazare is at the fast venue, he will join fellow team members on a hunger strike from July 29.

In Bangalore, Indian Against Corruption (IAC) is conducting protests for a stronger Lokpal at the Freedom Park. Former Lokayukta Santosh Hegde is taking part in the protests, which is in support of Team Anna's protest at Jantar Mantar in New Delhi.

Meanwhile, several workers of the National Students Union of India (NSUI) today created a ruckus at Team Anna’s fast venue, creating a law and order situation.

Shouting slogans against Team Anna, the NSUI members accused it of misleading and blackmailing the nation.

Earlier today, Anna Hazare said that Team Anna’s fast is not a pressure tactic.

"We are going to Gandhi Samadhi. We will pray that government gets 'sadbudhi' (right path). We only want a strong Lokpal. At least four times, ministers have written to us saying that they want a strong Lokpal. This is not pressure tactics. This is 'Satyagraha,” he told reporters.

Although Anna has good intension's in mind ,frankly hes a hardworking man but not very adept with diplomatic talking and politics.
and sadly neither is his team.

They act like a bunch of kids ,getting emotional and boastful as well as angry in an instant. NO matter how good ur Intentions are no matter how much u huff and puff and push something in the opposite direction(from where its meant to be) ,the meaning of all that hard work is noting, as it fails to get u results.

Team hazare needs to be more result oriented and professional.
