On May 3, 2012 the SSJ 100 aircraft will start its first roadshow – “Welcome Asia”. Sukhoi Civil Aircraft will bring the 95005 airplane to six countries: Kazakhstan, Pakistan, Indonesia, Vietnam, Laos and Myanmar. The airplane will be outfitted with the dual class cabin configuration, so that customers, stakeholders, government officials and media could enjoy the first-hand inflight experience of the unparalleled comfort a regional jet can give and share it with almost 200,000 passengers who have already travelled with Aeroflot and Armavia. At each destination point the aircraft will be demonstrated on static display and will perform demo flights for specially invited guests and media.

The first destination point is Astana, Kazakhstan. On May 3, at the International Exhibition KADEX-2012 the SSJ100 will launch its premiere tour. On May 5, the aircraft will arrive in Karachi, Pakistan. Naypyidaw, Myanmar, is the next stop for May 7. Two days later, on May 9 the aircraft will land in Jakarta, Indonesia. And on May 11 it will arrive in Vientiane, Laos. The final destination point of the “Welcome Asia” tour is Hanoi, Vietnam, where the aircraft will be shown on May 14. During the overall tour the aircraft, piloted by SSJ100 Chief test pilot Alexander Yablontsev and his co-pilot Alexander Kochetkov will have covered 8375 nautical miles (15510 km).

Sukhoi Superjet 100 is designed for transportation of 98 passengers and possesses a number of technical and economical advantages allowing to compete successfully with products of leading western regional jet manufacturers. Sukhoi Superjet 100 has an essential efficiency advantage on cash operational cost if compared to competitors. The aircraft enjoys unique piloting characteristics and controllability.

Sukhoi Superjet 100 starts “Welcome Asia” tour on May 3 – Superjet International

-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------

It has already come to Jinnah International.

Although I doubt there would be any buyers for this. Reason being that it is a 100 seater russian jet. So, it is only good for local routes, but those are at the moment well handled by ATR, B737. And because it is Russian, completely different maintenance, engines, cockpit.

Although it is a good step forward towards building some relationship!

Air Indus orders three Russian-
made sukhoi superjet

KARACHI: Sukhoi Superjet 100 is a modern 100-seat
jet. Air Indus Pvt Ltd, a fresh entrant into the
Pakistani aviation industry, is interested in
acquiring three Russian manufactured Sukhoi
Superjet 100 aircraft, as declared by the
company. A representative of Sukhoi Aviation, Igor Syrtsov, shed light on various features of
the aircraft Sukhoi Superjet `SSJ 100’ during the
road-show at Karachi Airport. He pointed out that
Sukhoi Superjet 100 is a
modern 100-seat jet. Igor was of the view that
the recent European certification confirmed full compliance of the aircraft with stringent safety
requirements. Chairman Air Indus Private Limited
Abdul Wahab
remarked “I have seen the Sukhoi Superjet 100
and it is as good as any other jet made in
Europe”. The airplane manufacturer Sukhoi also pledged to help the airliner in getting finances for
these aircrafts, he claimed. Wahab added that the
three aircrafts will be delivered by the middle of
next year with the provision of financing facility
and Air Indus will also have an option to further
acquire five aircrafts in the next three years. Last year, as reported by the Civil Aviation
Authority (CAA), the airline contracted four Boeing
737-300 aircraft from a Bulgarian company and
Air Indus Private Ltd will start its operation in the
next three months, using the narrow bodied
American aircraft.

===================================

this means deal is already signed as timeline if delivery is given

with 5 more on option says the official

Nothing anywhere else though. But good news that at least new jets are coming in and not 30 year old junk.

dawn and tribune are the most authentic sources in pak

and official is quoted

so its a confirm news

this would give Air Indus a head start IMO.

With new jets, people will be more inclined to come to them.

BTW, isn't air Indus the same airline that was rumored to be of Zardari family?

the owner air indus is zardari's family member and conspiracy theory says that recent problems with PIA were on purpose created to make way for air indus..

Isn't there some sort of MoU to manufacture this in India ? Please clarify.

SSJ 100? You got to be kidding me man. Its a regional jet that some non-scheduled operators have shown interest in buying. Similar to how we buy A320s and stuff. Why'd we manufacture them here?

Its good to have regional aircraft operating to tap into the less accessible regions of the country. But your business model has to be strong, supported with relevant infrastructure. For example, here in India, there are many WW2 era airports that lie abandoned and with little investment, be converted into low-cost airports which in future could connect to metro cities as Metro lines, buses and road transport improves connections.

Pakistan has a big population and many cities that need connecting so Air Indus has a strong potential in the future.

Your country has a good opportunity to use these aircraft if you have tier-2 or tier-3 cities near metropolitan ones having basic airport infrastructure that needs little additional investment costs.
